A lot of people have been dealing with this issue. So far it's been narrowed down to ATI / AMD GPUs and GPU Overclocking software. Check this thread out http://www.overclock.net/pc-games/963421-bad-company-2-keeps-crashing-my.html it's the ongoing find a fix thread. As soon as I find another possible fix or something concrete I will post in this thread.

My friend was able to play for 1 hour 30 minutes (MSI Afterburner closed) and he got no lock ups.

We will try it again and try to play around 2-3hours see if it locks up without Afterburner.

But looks like Punkbuster doesn't like Afterburner with AMD graphics cards ever since the last PB update.

I tried a ton of solutions to this problem, and eventually just did a fresh install of my OS - haven't had any problems since (fingers crossed). Good to know it was related to a PB update, I had no idea why my game suddenly started crapping out after months of no trouble at all. Thanks for putting all this info in one thread!

Welcome to the club...

I added another fix to the list. Some people have turned off MSIAfterburner and been able to play without freezes.

Yeah, I'm one of those very few, together with my best friend, that while closing MSI Afterburner, it fixed the issue
