I think I messed up my RMA!

Thread Starter
So recently I had to RMA my 5870(not saying maker, they might see this) and I had some screws on the backplate in a small bag taped to my wall so I remember where they are. Well, long story short, there is only 3 or 4 screws on the back of my 5870. The backplate or anything else in the card is not going to fall off, it's completely secure. But then the RMA guys are gonna see the card, what will they do?

I hate to be the one to say this but that is going to affect the RMA. What was wrong with the card? Something physical that would have them believe it had to do with the cards cover being removed? Some companies are more leaniant than others.. I say that because I'm assuming I understand what you mean.. That is that you are missing some screws on the backplate?

To be honest with you, i think they should be ok with it, but i suppose it depends on the manufacturer. I dont think they really look at it so closely, i reckon they just throw it in a rig, if its faulty then thats it. I actually brought a faulty 4870x2 which had a blatant solder job around the 6pin pcie, i cleaned it up a little but you could still tell and xfx replaced it no problem.

Random crashes.

And could you list the companies that don't care? I'm a little scared of telling you who made it because OCN comes up a ton on Google.

I hear XFX is pretty good with RMA's, whereas MSI may be tougher.. This was my experience anyways. All in all you have nothing to lose. You are positive its the video card causing the crashing?

As a Consumer, we should have a right to know which company slacks in any department. That always isn't the case

I'm gonna take a wild guess, Is it a XFX?
