PC Not Booting

Thread Starter
I tried to overclock my 930 to 5ghz today but none of my attempts succeeded. after my last attempt my pc did not boot after changing voltages. my rampage 3 is stuck on the cpu light and doesnt move no matter what i try.

i have tried resetting cmos.
checking cpu to see if it has any burnt pins
changing bios using bios switch
updating bios
restarting

none of these have helped so i was wondering if anyone could help me out.

i was thinking about contacting intel support but im not sure if they would honour the warranty considering that it was overclocked (which im not gonna tell them) and that it was working before.

Probably the board, for 5GHz you would have needed at least a 227 baseclock, maybe even a 238(I believe it's common to use LN at this type of clock)?

How long have you left it? I have seen boards need several hours to fully reset after a bad OC before. I would fully power down.

Guess there's always a chance it was the chip too though, what voltage were you using?

Aside from that, your best bet is either to try the components in other systems and see if you can get them working on their own and then RMA what is broken, else you will be looking at RMA'ing several parts, in which case, good luck with the warranty.

5ghz will not be possible without ln2 cooling. Air will not be able to keep it sufficiently cool. Air cooling generally gets you to about 4.3-4.5ghz. the voltage required to hit 5ghz is quite high and produces too much heat for air cooling. i hope this helps you

For the rest, I agree with Crabid

it was bit stupid of me to try but i really wanted to know if it was possible so i did. last thing i remember before is my cpu was at 2volts which i know is way too high. im gonna leave it till tonight and see if it'll boot. but im really worried atm. if it doesnt work i wont be able to pay to get another.
