Radeon 6850 Vs GTX 460SE - Page 2

The 6850 will probably work better with your Phenom II, the 460's like the Core i chips better. Since you have an SE it will be a decent difference. If you can squeeze it though get a 6870.

Now why are the 5850's and 5870's better than the 6000 series cards? And what nvidia cards do they compare in performance to? And I would preferably like to buy something at either CompUSA/Tiger Direct, Fry's or Microcenter(Westmont location if your looking at their website). Microcenter DOES pricematch with newegg as well so thats more-so a preferance for a better possible price.
The 58xx are better than the 68xx because they have more shaders, but there worse than the 69xx because of the same reason. The 58xx compare to the the 470 and 480 and since the 480 is the same as a 570 the 5870 compares with it lol hopefully that helped u out in understanding. I'm going out right now but when I get back I'll try and find u a deal on one of the cards

Edit: 6870 is better than the 5850 but not much

ok awesome, ill have to do more research on the cards to see what else is out there.

And to simplify for anyone else that my reply to my question. I am looking for a graphics card that is decently better than the EVGA GTX 460SE for about $200. Willing to go a hair over if the deal is awesome but prefer to stay under.

I think you should go with what everybody is saying and get the 6870.

As far as your research goes take a look at this ranking lists here on OCN to get an idea of the hierarchy of the GPU's.

now, im looking at a lot of these cards and I see that they are pci-e 2.1x16

My mobo has pci-e 2.0x16 slots on it. Can I run a 2.1 card? will it be bottle-necked by the mobo? whats up with that whole deal?

Hey guys, brand new to this forum. I recently assembled my first desktop and purchased a Radeon HD 6850 for the great quality to price ratio.

I wanted to know safe numbers to overclock the card? And which software to use? I'm looking into using Sapphire Trixx 3.0 and also MSI After Burner to measure temperatures.

Let me know guys!
