75C is about as high as I'd go, though some people say 80C. Hopefully HT would be of help in getting those temps down, otherwise I'd suggest downvolting/clockin gif you're going to get those temps consistently for long periods of time.

Yep.. a little too hot for comfort. You might want to try a re-seat, as FTW said, prime isn't as hot as folding; I fold at 5.0 and it keeps around 75-78`C. With prime it tops out around 70`C. I also have HT enabled. I do also have pretty cool ambients..

EDIT - 1.65v? whoa.. way too high dude.
dude 1.65v on air cooling is wayyyy too much. Everyone I've seen on this forum runs under 1.5v. Intel states 1.52v as the max volts. Your chip might degrade very fast over 1.6v.

LOL SHIIIITTTTT.

I wouldn't even put that much vcore through a 65nm Core2, let alone my 2500k

Do you have PLL overvolt enabled? Latest bios? If not, that might explain why you need such high vcore for 5.1Ghz. Otherwise, if all else is good, sounds like you might not have a very good chip. For 5.0/5.1 I'm still under 1.5vcore.
Yeah so it sounds like your just not gonna get 5GHz with your setup. Turn off HT, reseat your cooler, and see what your max is at 1.5V. Just take what you can get, these Sandy Bridges are impressive at any frequency.

IMO, your chip likely won't last very long running 1.6vcore through it..
