my pc won't boot - Page 5

Don't throw anything away, you would be surprised how an insane amount of very polite moaning will get you. Of course it depends on the company and how willing they are to lose a small amount of money and get a customer happy but it's worth a try.

If that fails buy the same parts again then replace the ones that arrive with the ones you broke by being a retard and send them back, do this from different companies so they don't get suspicious that two parts they sent don't work... of course this is immoral!

Thread Starter
I can't afford to buy the same parts again, though. And I can't take any more risk.

I may have the warranties for my parts, but I highly doubt that my retailer will replace my damaged parts with working ones because of what I did. And because I think they can prove that the parts were damaged by overclocking anyways, so why bother...?

Thanks for all of your help, guys. You guys have had helped me with choosing what parts to get, how to lower temps, the airflow stuff and so on. Much appreciated.

Despite losing $$$$, it has been a great/emotional/frustrating/whatever journey. Now I just have to work harder to get my money back.

Cya all.

It is worth a try though, if it fails you are in the same position and if it works well hey presto you have new parts, you have nothing to lose really.

you have gotta find out if it was the mobo or the cpu. if it was the mobo, sell half of your ram, add a few bucks "you can borrow from a friend you know" get a cheap mobo and problem solved. if it was the cpu, i dunno... sell everything else?

just one thing.. you did say you checked the mobo for damaged parts, could you check again for blown capacitors?

Im sure he would smell or hear something if the capacitors blew up.

Anyway just try and replace the parts, tell them you did nothing wrong and that they just stopped working, play dumb a bit and try being a bit angry at them even if it isnt really their fault.

I had a mobo with a blown cap "without any sound or any smell"

and let me get this straight, the warranty they give is only voided when the mobo is damaged by overclocking? i mean let's say you overclocked for 3 months and then suddenly one of your ram dimms stopped reading the ram stick, does that mean it's your fault? or it's the mobo's fault?
