[ENG] Is your iPad 2 backlight bleeding? - Page 4

What I still don't understand is how they sell so many Ipods...if its the most limited device you could ever buy. Its only useful to read content, but nothing else, and can't believe millions of people only "read" content.

But hey, whatever floats your boat, as they say.

PS: yup I have one at home (Ipod 1) because we won it in a contest. Still don't know what to use it for...

Wow, that's disheartening. It seems that this is happening to nearly everyone's iPad, eh?

I don't understand how people justify serious defects like this with "it only happens when blah blah" etc etc. Then they come back and say OMG I need MBP because it has the best screen ever. The fact of the matter is that screen is seriously not right, I would never accept a screen like that. It only happens with blacks so I/you shouldn't care. What if you could never see black? Would that bother you then, or is it still justifiable? What about when you watch a video or movie on your device and there are splotches all over?

I can see how some people wouldn't care/mind it, but it would most certainly become noticeable to the average person after a week of use. Up next, its only a few dead pixels! Theres 1,000,000 more!!!!

My $20,000 vehicle has had three urgent service bulletins, **** happens. How the company deals with it and the process afterwards is what I care about.

I totally agree here.

I just grabbed my mom's iPad2 to look for this.

I made an all black image and checked it out.
with the backlight on 75%, you can see three small spots of bleeding when in a dark room (no lights on)
You would only ever see this if in a completely dark room, and you certainly wouldnt use 75% backlight in such a setting. When I turn it down to a reasonable brightness (for the conditions) the problem is resolved.

I suspect anybody complaining about this is because they've got the brightness cranked... and they want to complain. I've seen MUCH worse bleed on $1,000 tv's.

just my .02

p.s. I told her not to buy it and to wait for Xoon wifi instead to make the call.

Yes it is.

Guess it's that time of month.
