Fans for 480 rad

Thread Starter
hey guys, i purchased a new rad ( Swiftech MCR420-QP Quad 120mm Radiator ) from crazypc.com yesterday for a great price (50% off). Now i have a rx 360 and the mcr 420. I know it wont fit in my case (haf x) internaly. Since im going to build a corner desk this week, im going to integrate it in my case, something like this. I wanted to know if tthat a good idea, also is this rad good? and lastly what fans should i buy for it. for my 360 i have some gt's ap15 how about for this ? yates?

Since its a slim you will want 1800+ rpm fans. So another set of Ap-15's is a choice on the lower end otherwise something like this: http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/pa12hisp.html . Might work. Are you looking for quiet fans?

In that case grab another set of AP-15s. I really do love how quiet they are for the cooling they offer. But someone else might have a good suggestion as well.

Swiftech MCR series rads work nicely with same fans as XSPC RX series rads, performance curves are quite similar.

Are your temps too high with the 360? I'm running 2x Swiftech MCR360-QP which keeps my 3x GTX470's (~42c average) and i7-920 @ 4.2Ghz (~60c average) plenty cool and all in a single loop (temps are running fully loaded all at the same time @ 70c ambient temp).

You might try just swapping out the 360 with the 420 first and see how it goes. I'm using 2x AP-15 GT's and 4x 68cfm KAZE Slip Streams (I found the KAZE's for ~ $6 ea. ) and my rig is very quiet too.
