CPU - Intel Core i7 2600k (Make sure it has a k in the model, Means it has unlocked multiplier and you can Overclock it in future)
CPU Cooler - Thermaltake Frio
RAM - 8Gb G-Skill Ripjaws PC3-12800 CL7
Motherboard - Asus P8P67 PRO B3
Graphic Card - Sapphire HD6970 2Gb
HDD - Western Digital Caviar Black 750Gb/1TB (Whatever you want, 750Gb or 1TB, also if you want an SSD, you can add a Vertex 2 60Gb for your Windows 7 and programs, or a Vertex 2 120Gb).
PSU - Corsair HX750
Case - It's up to your likings to be honest, I could recommend many, like a Cooler Master 690 II Advanced, a Silverstone Raven RV02B-EW... etc

Now, I don't think I am missing anything, let me know if you need more help!
The hard drive I chose in my last selection, whats the difference between that and the one you picked aside from price.

It really deppends.

As far as I know, the P8P67 PRO has 4 more power phases vs the normal P8P67. I'm sure that will help a bit in OC.

But yeah, even a normal Asus P8P67 would do a great job.

About Bulldozer, if he doesn't mind waiting few months, then I'd say wait, but, we still don't know their performance, they could be awesome, or they could be a huge dissapointment.

I woul get a 2600k and forget about any upgrades for at least year and half or 2 years

The VelociRaptor has faster access times and tends to load games faster.

However, I don't think it is worth it at all.

I would rather grab a pair of Caviar Black 640Gb/750Gb/1TB and do a RAID0 with them.

I wouldn't pay for a VelociRaptor nowadays.

If he would be getting into overclocking his graphic card, he might want to get an aftermarket version of it. MSI's Twin Frozr II/III and Asus's Direct CU II are nice coolers and perform very well. My choice though is the former, for me, it's the best air aftermarket cooler.

Whut? a i7-970? Hmmm.... Uhhhh...... This is wierd, and a HD6970? Why not a GTX580 and a i7-920 Overclocked to 4.0GHz, they are still both Quad-Cores...

If he is not planning to add another card for CF, it would be a great choice to get an Asus HD6970 Direct CU II, they are damn beasts in cooling, and have a great overclocking cappability.

SB > i7-920 Period. SB overclocks to 4.5 GHz on air with no effort. He has chosen an HD6970 instead of GTX 580. Radeon = eyefinity.

Agreed. Why would you want to get old technology when you have new technology that has a better price/performance ratio and overclocks way better ? For the same overclock, Nehalems would require extensive water cooling. SB does it with stock coolers. SB is just that badass

Okay, I'll be getting:

CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-750HX 750W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS SILVER Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

ASUS P8P67-M PRO (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
I might get a smaller one and a SSD as well cause I heard god things about it

Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I72600K

Thermaltake Frio Overclocking-Ready Intel Core i7 (six-core ready) & i5 Compatible Five 8mm Heatpipes Dual 120mm Fans Intel & AMD Universal CPU Cooler CLP0564

But I'm still unsure on the following:

RAM: This

Or

This

* I think those are the ram that work with the motherboard you picked out. There are more expensive ones as well.

Video Card: This

Or

This

Case: I like the one i first picked out mainly cause it comes with those 2 big fans on the side, I seen the 2 you picked out and I liked the first one, but how is it better then the one I picked. I don't feel like paying much over 100 for a case.
