new build has instabilty problems.

I just built a new pc and it has trouble keeping stable on stock settings, it is mostly when playing games. The pc tends to lag and hang up in between menus and also internet explorer.

When I am actually playing the game battlefield bad company 2 the screen flickers and goes nuts randomly (the whole screen doesnt flicker at once its like as if you had random broken glass that kind of random sahped spotted flickering if this makes sense.)

I have also gotten the blue screen of death a few times once while playing bc2 and 2 times just doing normal net and task. does not say what it died from just says it is shut down to protect hardware.

I ran prime 95 with no errors and mem test which I completed 1 test with no errors.

the only thing I can think of is my motherboard does not list my memory on the qualified vendor list but has other corsair models on it, but is the same clock and speed as those but does 2 4gig sticks give issues with motherboards? or should I only run 2 gig sticks?

the only other thing is when booting it says that its searching for a device don't know what but says cant find it and only thing I can think of is the cd rom cuz it read if plugged into sata 2 but if I plug it into sata 5 it says not detected but the cd rom works fine and works liek its supposed to kind of odd if its "not detected"

I will be disabling cool and quiet and testing each vid card seperatly tonight to see if flickering and random freezing and crashed stop by trying to eliminate the vid cards and cpu but does anyone have similar setup or run into these problems before and can reccomend what to do?

As a tip, for your final clock, run prime 95 for 24 hrs cause that is the real test to see if its stable. Just an hour won't be enough testing.

to me it kinda of sounds like more a video card problem. Especially with the "broken glass" effect/flickering that you said you are getting. and BSOD while playing a game steers me more towards the GPU as well. I myself have that motherboard and am running 8G(2x4gb) of corsair 1333mhz RAM with no problems(knock on wood) along with a phenom ll 955BE.

I say check the gpu's

Artifacts is what those are called i believe. Yes, either drivers are bad, or video card(s) are toast or toasting. Good luck!

Ok it is definatly a crossfire problem works perfect with 1 card but when I put 2 in it freaks out and also in catalyst software shows the 2nd gpu in system info but when I go to xfire diagnostics it shows blank in box and when I click identify gpu it says 1.
so it tells me that the software itself cant detect it but the system does? so I don't know if its a bios thing or the mb or literally they don't have xfire compatible drivers for my mb or vid cards? any info on a possible fix would be great cuz the pc is perfect with 1 card but i would like to use 2.
