Max PII x920 mobile temperatures?

I have a phenomII mobile x920 for the laptop.

It idles at ~60'C and maxes at 87'C in Prime95.

Is this fine or should I open up my laptop again to reapply TP?

(I've already opened up my lappy to reapply TP to the GPU)

As far as I know the mobile chips are supposed to be more temperature-tolerant

Yep, but how high is the max?

87'C seems to be cutting it close for a laptop if the thermal shutdown temps is around 100'C or so...if I happen to run both the CPU and the GPU at 100% load in a warm room, I might reach high 90s'C temperatures.

What temperature does your lappy cpu idle at?

The thermal paste might bring your temps to the low 70's

I've done that. I've replaced some of the stock paste with MX-2.

I think one of the problem might be my fan is on low or is off until the temps reach a certain point. My CPU temps slowly creep up to ~68'C before I hear my laptop fan start spinning, which brings it down to 58'C, in which case it takes 10min to slowly creep up again, repeating the cycle.

Or maybe after I installed a copper penny-shim onto my GPU, my CPU is now not making good contact? Maybe I need to install a thin copper shim for the CPU as well?
