Looking for a new group of SSDs for RAID

Thread Starter
was just looking on newegg at the SSD section. these things have giottne alot faster.

i built a RAID0 out of 4 60gb vertex 2 drives on a LSI 9260i card and got sustained reads of 1.1gb/sec. it was very cool, but trim didn't work. anyone know if these new super fast sata3 SSDs have that same sandforce raid problem? if so is there a solution out there or on the horizon.

thanks

I don't think there are any RAID implementations (hardware or otherwise) that support TRIM at this point. You just gotta wait. It's not a Sandforce problem, either. Once TRIM support gets introduced in RAID controllers, then it should work for all SSD's with TRIM. Alas, I don't know if you'll have to buy a new RAID card or if a simple driver update will do the trick.

Are you still using all the drives?

AAR, there's no TRIM for SSDs in RAID. Nothing has changed.

But all SSDs have GC which is @ 90% effective as TRIM.

I have an LSI 9240-4i and am waiting for a good price on another C300 256GB unit for a RAID0 set-up.

They're going for 410.00 on Ebay now but I hope they'll drop to 300-350 when the C400s hit the marketplace.

Least....that's my plan.
