MSI P67A-GD55 Review and OC guide - Page 36

70C is below the max, your CPU will not hit 70C under normal use unless you have a regulated fan (it might shoot up to 70C before the fan kicks into load mode) and you have to remember that people in Africa buy PCs too. They have to withstand some heat to even be viable in Africa. Oh, and the stock SB cooler probably can't keep anything below 60C.

been reading quite a lot thread about overclocking i5 in MSI Boards, and had read all the posts in this thread to try to grasp about what should I do in attempting to get a stable 4.3GHz

Following your guide, Ive managed to get a speed of 4.3GHz but with voltage set in bios in 1.310v
been testing in this speed from 1.282 which only last in around couple hours before BSOD 0x124..
and with 1.310v I've managed to pass prime95 custom blend test with 7GB ram for "only" 2 hours (stopping coz its already late at night) with temps running around ~70C

my question is, is that a bad OC? because you seem to state at that kind of voltage I should aim at 4.5GHz instead of 4.3GHz...
other posts in other threads also shows a lot of other people managed to get 4.5GHz with even less than 1.310v
am i just unlucky?

ps. I've tried to get 4.5GHz but my windows wont even boot using 1.355v , heck even I've tried with 4.4GHz with 1.355v with similar results
so, 4.3GHz is more than enough for me...
Hi,

Do you have a batch number for your cpu? Yours seems to need as much vcore as mine for the x43/x44 oc.....damn all these people only needing 1.27 for x44 oc. Lol

Bugger!!

I've never been in Africa, but im pretty sure my country is quite hot too as it rightly in the equator's line (which supposed to be a tropical/hot country)...but probably less hotter I supposed compared to Africa and ME...

at first with 1.310v and stock TIM + SpinQ Cooler Air (a little bit better than the stock cooler) my temps reached around 75C in prime blend...
then I changed the TIM with OCZ Freeze and used the small grain/bb compound method....
now the lowest temp is 10C lower than it used to, and the max temps is around 5C lower than it used to

not the best temps range compared to many others, but Im still quite satisfied

sure, my i5 2500k batch is L041C246...

someone in Muna1m's thread even got 4.5GHz with only 1.212v, bugger indeed!

I tested mine with Furmark and IBT simultaneously and attached are the results.
I think that TEMPIN1 is the PCH.

A note: IBT loads the CPU so hard that it lacks resources to run Furmark. This is visible in the Furmark graph. Prime + Furmark gives a far more efficient heat build up.

Anyway, my TMPIN1 is 10 C higher than yours, but my CPU is OC'd higher and therefore hotter, so maybe that affects it.

I thought Furmark was pretty much stressing the GPU. That's why I ran it along with IBT, to put a load on the entirety of the CPU architecture, the cores and the PCH.

At any rate, I was just demonstrating what my temps look like at stock settings as static value for comparison.

Well Furmark would've been stressing it if it had the CPU power to do so.

Just wondering, anyone know if you can run two PWM fans off the single PWM header with a splitter? Right now I'm at a crossroads of either getting Akasa PWM Splitter or FrozenCPU PWM Y Splitter/Gelid Solutions PWM . I'm not sure though if the PWM headerr has enough current to run two Akasa Apache Black.

I tried checking the manual but it doesn't say how much power the single PWM header provides.

Edit:
Never mind, went ahead and just ordered the Akasa splitter
