i7 2600k @ 4.8ghz - Page 4

I seem pretty stable @ 4.8 still. I even enabled VRM spread spectrum and CPU spread spectrum just to see what all the "increased stability" marketing fuss is all about from Asus. but doesn't seem to make a difference. although I still can't get my VCore to lower properly with power management, I get BSODs galore.

someday I'll build a real wc system again. I had to compromise on a H50 since my budget became very tight. pump noise can be annoying at full rpm, but silent when ramped down. my first water cooling build I went crazy replacing pumps to get rid of annoying squealing or excessive hissing. (I settled on a Lang D5 I believe) come to think of it, a fan controller may have solved my problems but I just never thought of it back then. though my tripple radiator fans were SILENT! but my temps were high since I had two x1900 crossfire cards, i975 chipset and E6700 cpu all on one loop.

well my temps are lower now, getting 34c idle 72-73c load, slightly better, but the fans are now at ~ 50% on some cheap and nasty single fan controllers I bought, they really nasty, so will be getting a propper fan controller in the near future

going to push for 5ghz tomorrow (day off work, yay) hopefuly I can get it stable for an hour without the temps getting too high, can join the sandy bridge 5ghz club then biggrin.gif

nice, I gave up on the 5GHz club after ruining my first cpu lol. good luck!

those temps aren't bad. my H50 with case open and cool ambient temp is around 68-72 load but easily 75-79 with case closed and normal ambient.

ARE YOU INSANE ?

The processor datasheet specs for I7 series is VID .25v to 1.52v MAX.
it will run safely in that range with 0 issues of any kind. 24/7.

AT 1.62v you will melt down and destroy your CPU. if it had not happen already...but then you already destroyed your cpu anyways pushing it past 1.52v.

People should pick up books and read when doing such things

Currently running 5Ghz @ 1.432V for 24/7. Passes Prime95 blend 24H on that speed/voltage. Used to run 4.8GHz @ 1.344V for 24/7.

Wow another one....... over 72.5C and your destroying your CPU pure and simple

My 2600k at 5.0Ghz is 41'C at full load if your gonna overclock spend the bloody $100.00 and get the H70 liquid cooling and a server case for cooling.

Please do not follow the false information like this guy is saying.
72.6c is a Tcase temp. Not CPU/Core temp.
The max CPU/Core temp is usually 10~15c above the Tcase temp.
So it's around 85c+.
But the most Sandy Bridge can withstand higher temp.
At 95c, your CPU will be throttling, and at 98c (TJ Max temp) the computer shuts off/BSOD/freeze.
Also please do not think you can get to 5.0GHz with 41c full load.
Another false information.
Also if my CPU melts at 1.52v then I don't think I'm on here typing right now so as many people here on OCN.tongue.gif

Really?? rolleyes.gif so what your saying is that your H70 cooling is so much better than a custom chilled waterloop? http://www.overclock.net/14125083-post1558.html

yeah right, now go troll elsewhere. kookoo.gif
