AMD 6570m Performance?

Thread Starter
I bought a HP DV6T Quad Edition and it will be here Wednesday I was just wondering what kind of performance I should be expecting from it. I checked notebookcheck.com and they don't have any benchmarks but they do have benchmarks for the Core i7 2630QM and they showed it performs the same as a desktop Core i7 940!

What games will I be able to run and at what settings? I don't want to set my hopes high because I don't want to be let down

If it's anything like the 5650m, which was a solid perfomer, you're looking at medium settings in most games, or higher depending on how picky you are with framerates.

Good luck with that HP though... they're notorious for terrible cooling in their performance lappies. Not basing it off of one occurrence, but as an example: my roommate has the DV6 from last year with the i5/5650m. The damn thing kept shutting off on him during gaming. He said screw the warranty and pulled it apart; one dinky fan, crap heatsinks, and the thermal paste was globbed on and running off the sides of the chips.

Glad to hear the card would game okay at medium settings... hopefully the cooling is better because I'm currently using a Toshiba that overheats constantly. My last HP laptop was a workstation which lasted for ever! If the dv6t does overheat it will go straight back to HP and I will probably pick up a Sager or a Lenovo workstation type laptop.

I would guess that it'll perform marginally better than the Mobility 5650, so you could take a look at Notebookcheck's website for it and get an idea. Although, the 6570M page says that it should perform between an HD 5730 and 5770 (desktop cards); that may be more indicative.

Again, good luck with the HP. I had considered the dm4 for myself, but I was put off by HP's history with the performance lappies. Generally, my advice is to expect the worst, so you have the chance of being pleasantly surprised As soon as you get it, load up some games that'll stress the GPU, and keep an eye on temperatures. Don't do it in a perfect environment either; it needs to hold up wherever you use it.

I have a year old Acer Aspire 5739g with a GT240M 1gb GDDR5, I can max out the original Crysis, at 11-20 FPS.

That Graphics card should be better, and my CPU in my laptop is definitely bottlenecking, it's the T6600 2.2ghz dual core. And it's terrible in GTA IV lol, the most CPU intensive game I've ever played.

I went on notebookcheck.net to read what they had to say about the 6570 and it seems like they were talking about the laptop 5730, 5750, 5770 video cards. He mentions at the end the HD 5730 uses (26 watts) clearly a 5730 desktop laptop won't use that small amount of power.

The performance of the 5730 isn't bad paired up with a Sandy Bridge processor gaming performance should go up by 5% or more on a 1366-768 resolution. Kind of impressed that it could play Dirt 2 with 60 FPS on medium or 35 FPS on high
