Question : GTX 580 + 8800 GTS ... PSU/Bottleneck ?

Thread Starter
Hi guys, I've got a question, I'm planning on getting a GTX 580 during the week, wich I would pair with a 8800 GTS 640 as a PhysX Dedicated GPU ...

Is it possible on my current config ? Will it bottleneck or Overheat ?

Config :

Case : CM HAF 932
CPU : i7 920 D0 (@3.4Ghz, Stock Cooler)
Motherboard : EVGA X58 Classified (760 Model ...)
HDD : 2x Caviar Black 1Tb 64Mb in RAID 0
RAM : 6Gb Corsair Dominator (640Mhz / 2:8)
PSU : 750 Corsair (TX750W)

If you need any more info, just ask ...
Plz Help ...
Thank You Very Much smile.gif

Looks fine! I wouldn't expect any over heating, unless the 8800 already overheats on its own?

As far as I know there shouldn't be any bottlenecking, although I'd get a Hyper 212+ or something on your CPU, but that's not related to your question.

Nah, you're good. I had my rig running on a Azza 850w before I upgraded to what I have now. and that 750 you have is much more efficient.

Your PSU runs fine, I take up 850w on both 580s + CPU overclocks. Since its only for dedicated physX, you'll be fine unless it burst into flames.

Second metroid's suggestion, replacing the stock fan on the 920.

Considering how much that 580 cost, your CPU will like the drastic temp drop for $30 lol.

Ya you're right ... I was aiming for a H70/Venomous X ... not anything like cheap ... (just something about me being a dumbass ^^ ... :S) but I should invest in one ... A 30$ one will make one hell of a difference with the stock fan ?

Yeah, that Hyper212 will definitely make a difference. Even more so if you get two good fans to put on it.

Although if you we're looking at something a little more expensive I'd go with an H50 instead of the H70. At the H70's price you may as well save up another $50 and get a custom water loop.

Yeah xD I DREAM of a custom water loop ... like rly .. But I've got one solid limitation wich is ... lack of skillz ^^ ... I'm not really the manual type and as far as I know, a custom loop represent alot of work so ... I guess i'd just go with a closed loop "simple" system smile.gif Thanks for the advices smile.gif
