Valve has been using the Source Engine since 2004.

The engines have been updated quite a bit, but they haven't significantly changed since their introductions. I don't blame Valve though since they focus more on gameplay than visuals. Call of Duty on the other hand recycles the same engine, the same gameplay, and often the same setting for each new game. Gets old.

But you really can't say all the competition has been lazy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...ctX_10_support

That's not a small list. Shows the amount of developers who've bothered to upgrade their engines.

Although Battlefield 3 is boasting a brand new engine. And while this is exciting, I don't think it'll be as significant as CryEngine 1 to CryEngine 2 was. Definitely eons beyond Call of Duty however.
Right well valve actually makes quality uniquer games.
CoD Is so generic which is why everyones dropping it for BF3, if they tried to make somthing different then they might have more PC supporters, but TF2 isone of a kind, same with HL sereis and i hate to say it but portal is unique (hate portal)

Not attacking you in any way, but whether the game is a console port or not is fact and our opinions are irrelevant in the matter.

I believe those links can be used as conclusive evidence as to whether the game is a blatant console port or not.

Eventually finish the BF BC2 game as it still has some strange bugs.
Like the one in which when there is a specific lag you loose kills beeing counted

Older COD-s had an advantage over BF BC2 , it s about the servers.
I mean with COD 4 or BF 2 i can start my own server any minute ,but with BF BC2 ,oh ,i need to pay to get my server and i can t pay for one in my country

That was nice with older games ,not only that you had dedicated servers ,but you could also host games for your friends on your own electrical bill ,but free of charge to the big boys.

I m waiting BF 3 with a lot of curiosity and i really hope is finished and really made for PC and not ported like BF BC2.
BFBC2 is "Finished".

I see the truth is rubbing concentrated lemon juice into the eyes (and other places we won't discuss) of COD fans.

BFBC2 is definitely a finished game, ported or not, it runs great and looks good. But now I'd like some BF2 style love for BF3
The perfect BF3 for me would be the infantry aspect of BC2 mixed with the map size and vehicle variety of BF2. I am in love with BC2 hardcore, it's just lacking more vehicles (and especially planes).

By their standards it is obviously finished, as a console game. As a PC game it never got out of BETA.

So COD sells way more than any other game. Who cares? It's still recycled garbage. Look at it in terms of the music industry. Justin Beiber sells more albums than anyone. Brittany Spears. 50 Cent. Hell, I bet Chingy outsold Nine Inch Nails.

Fact of the matter: sugar coated crap is still crap.

I'll take a breathtaking game that sells 5 games over an underwhelming game that sells a billion any day.

It would be better if they just beat them and not trash talk about it, marketing is marketing

I don't care what anybody says. I hope the next game after this is BF2143. They had the right idea the first time with BF2142 but not the resources to pull it off to the full potential. It would be sick if they were to do it again but with all their new tricks and the Frostbite 3 (or 4) engine. How about a battlefield on a different planet?
