*PICS* BC2 - VERY LARGE GAINS with i5-2500k upgrade from Q9650 Benchmarks - Page 14

post #131 of 569
60 to 120 fps is obviously a vsync issue.
especially as you can see the gpu usage is 60% at 60fps on the q9650
So obviously at 100% it should be at 100fps not 120fps.

Not to mention that CPU ussage on the q9650 is 82% where as your 2500k is at 79%. (SEE FIRST POST).

They are almost running at almost the exact SAME USAGE!!

Then, the next set of screen shots you show us to prove your settings, you have the resolution down to 1024x768.....***?

Another fail i can see, is that the q9650 system has 2.5 gb ram installed where as the 2500k has 4gb installed. (SEE FIRST POST)

what the hell is this the Q9XXX series are easily comparable to the i7s in gaming and are still amazingly fast. Your tests are obviosly flawed and if done properly at a mainstream res i.e 1080p or 1680x1050 the difference between the i3/i5/i7/C2Q are negligible (assuming clocks are similar). If ur testing at 1024x768 and lower then your results are not going to appeal to 95% of the gaming community...

a. take a real science course
b. take a statistics course
c. understand that even though a lot of people say yah or nay, or how flawed or reasoned their arguments are, that with your screenshots and benchmarks and claims, none of them means a thing and others have a right to disagree with you.

If you don't know how to use scientific testing and reasoning to distinguish differences and make a well prepared case for it, then you are basically asking for others to reject your theory, even if they're correct.

Set both machines to 4Gb RAM, turn off V-sync on both, retest at a resolution that a majority use. 1080p. Pwease.

lol, ya to be honest I've never done a glfop test before... I've seen talk about gigalfops/gflop come up before on many oc forum boards, but never really paid attention to it or ran one myself so I really didn't know what turrican9 was raging about when he demanded all these specific tests to be done. Since it looks like more of you are interested in the results I'll download the program and run it when I get home tonight and post up what I get.

It looks like the best program to use is IntelBurnTest Most people make the stress level use 2048mb of RAM and have it run for 5-10 passes, I will do the same.

Ok, I'll put together some more results. But FPS from Q9650 in 32bit and 64bit win7 is the same, I'll take some screenshots to show both with 4gb available. Also V-SYNC WAS OFF on all tests I took and in all screenshots posted in this thread! And 1920x1080 isn't that far off from 1600x1200... it's only 150k pixel off. I'm not gonna run at a higher resolution, our focus is talking about CPU's here not GPU's...

1920x1080= 2,073,600
1600x1200= 1,920,000
1680x1050= 1,764,000

The best way to see a CPU's performance or bottlenecking in game is lower the resolution to 1024x768 and run the game at the lowest settings, no AA, no AF, this eliminates the GPU factor and puts all focus onto the CPU, performance in game! Which I have done here in this thread. Noobs ITT not knowing whats up a few posts up complaining about this lol.

YES, THAT WOULD BE AWESOME, SOMEBODY STEP UP AND JOIN A 32 PERSON SERVER WITH THIS GUY WITH THE SAME SETTINGS AND BOTH STAND IN THE SAME SPOT AND TAKE SOME SCREENSHOTS!!!

I'd like to see MP results in 1920x1080 4x-8x AA, DX11, Highest Settings with HBAO off. Also take into consideration FOV as more FOV effects performance as it's drawing more on the screen.

Cool man, thanks for opting to do this, I hope someone steps up, but almost everyone that's posting in this thread doesn't even have a MP version of BC2 to test with. Funny how so many can make opinions when they don't have BC2 MP capabilities.

I just received my 480 today. I'm running a Q66 at 3.2Ghz on a nvidia motherboard that is underperforming on the gflop test, and I never saw below 65fps @ 1920x1080, everything max on dx11, hbao off, 16xCSAA 16xAF, etc. Average was 80-90fps with spikes above 125+fps

A 570/5870 with Q9650 should be close to equivalent, so there is something else not correct here.

And this was all done on a 32man server. FPS monitoring done with EVGA Precision. GPU Usage was 85%+ the entire time, and CPU was 90%+
