There is nothing wrong with the Q9650/5870 setup performance. I never drop below 50fps on it and average around the 80fps mark with also spikes towards the 140fps mark depending on the map. With using the same video card in the i5-2500k the min fps I see has changed from 50fps to 100fps. Min fps is the most important thing to look at here.

W4LNUT5, lets hop in the same server and do some comparing. What time zone are you in?
I'm also using a larger resolution than you too. If I used 1680x1050, I'd be willing to be that I'd see close to a 10fps gain.

I'm in the EST time zone. I'd be willing to hop on the Overclock.net 32man rush server if you'd like.

I don't doubt that you're seeing those fps, but I'm certain it's not representative of all C2Q's compared to the i5-2500k. I really see your Quad as under performing because of something. My quad is only at 3.2ghz, and it's an older Q6600, and I'm seeing better fps at higher resolution (granted I am using a 480, and not a 570 or 5870)

Awesome, thanks for the quick results man.

Lets see if any Q9x50/570 users step up and post results. Also guys please don't go hiding in a corner of a building staring at the wall when you capture these results to get better fps, play the game as you usually would and attempt to plant mcoms and defend them.

So you just illegally downloaded BC2 just for singleplayer, what kinda gamer are you ROFL? Why in the world didn't you buy it on steam during Christmas time when it was only $6.80? It's only $20 now and still a ton of people play it and it's an amazing game, I'd give it a go.

Also BradleyW, we have already established that that vsync wasn't on, check out the next couple of pages where more screenshots are posted, you can see the Q9650 setup hitting the 112fps and 78fps mark, Vsync is defiantly not on! Also with being a CRT user 60hz is the worst word in the dictionary, 60hz is god awful looking lol. A 21" Trintron FD CRT needs at least 85hz to look good. 60hz and CRT should never be used in the same sentance!

Somebody send me an HD5870 so I can run the comparison I will only OC my CPU to 4ghz for the comparison because temps are wayyy to high for my liking, but I'll be willing to do it, IF I get to keep the GPU

I don't see why it even matters...anything above 50FPS, the difference can't be detected by the human eye, no matter who you are! I barely notice at 30FPS. As long as minimum doesn't drop below 30FPS, I'm golden

yea frostbite engine sucks I was writing about it last year, it will be a huge bottleneck on a 775 because of all the destructible environment.

could it have anything to do with the "Refresh Rate" field in the game's config file?

I'm MST right now...

Do you have xfire or steam, if so post it up here or PM me? It would be the best way for us to schedule a meeting in game.

I'm puzzled, how can you say that your system is performing better? There's so many variables in BC2 multilayer... You really have no say in that your fps is higher by just looking at the screenshots.

Unless you are in the same server, with the same conditions and standing in the same location as me when you take the screenshot, until then you have no say. This is why we have to meet up online together and be in the same server.

Come on Turrican9, you have another user thats got a gtx570 on a 2500k which is willing to compare results to your Q9650/gtx570 setup. I know you want to make a point and prove me wrong so please go buy BC2, I'm downloading IntelBurnTest and running that just for you later tonight. You will enjoy the game, it's worth it, GO GET IT!

Now I am very tempted to get a 2500k setup instead of a new card for BF3

Very nice performance, thanks for sharing!

That map is the most demanding also.

Here's the gflop test for those of you interested, Q9650 @ 4ghz, xfx 780i, memory 450mhz @ 4-4-4-8 1T, my normal everyday clock.

The weird thing is that at when I tried to run the test at my Q9650's max OC of 4.5ghz with memory 500mhz @ 5-5-5-17 2T I get a worse score, I guess because I've had stability problems with those settings in BC2 and prime95 in the past, either that or possibly this test just likes tighter memory timings...

The i5-2500k setup is getting double of what the Q9650 is getting, kinda funny just like the fps in some parts of the map on BC2...

Also guys I'm still waiting on some xfire or steam names to get PM'd to me so we can do some comparison tests in the same server together. It's hard to organize this, but we should at least try. Or just keep posting your results till we find two people with the same vcards, but different CPUs... 2500k vs Q9x50.

Let me know if you guys want any other tests done between the Q9650 on 32 or 64bit and the 2500k ... I'm thinking of testing the difference of how the amount of memory effects performance in BC2... 2gb, 4gb, 6gb or 8gb, usage of CPU and GPU @ different resolutions, etc, etc. If you can think of a couple other games to test out let me know. I'm thinking of getting homefront, anyone know how it's running?
