*PICS* BC2 - VERY LARGE GAINS with i5-2500k upgrade from Q9650 Benchmarks - Page 17

It'd also be more relevant if it were someone with a decent 775 board also, such as an EP45T-UD3P, preferably with ddr3 like the one i mentioned.

Yep, I'd have to agree with you... it would be nice to get some others with different 775 mobo's to run tests with me. Would be awesome to find a p45 Q9650@4ghz with a 5870.

I know my board has a bad rep, but honestly all my 3dmark/vantage CPU scores are on par if not better then other people with the same CPU/GPU.

oh i hear you. i'm mostly thinking about memory speed/bandwidth advantage one of the ddr3 boards might have. but yeah p45 would be ideal

Ill just post it here...

If your Q9650 @ 4Ghz holds your 5870 to 60%, something is clearly wrong. As you can see, my Q6700 only clocked at 3.25Ghz at the same settings can load my more powerful GTX560 SOC to 80-100% usage.

There is NO WAY your Q9650 will bottleneck a 5870 at the speeds you claim.

Who cares is one core was pegged at near max? It was only clocked at 3.25...

We can continue this in your thread, but there's nothing else to say really...
Ok, the point is that going from a Q9650 to a 2500k in BC2 you see a HUGE difference!

You guys are saying that my results are flawed that there is not that big of a difference between 2500k/Q9650 while using the same card and that my screenshots are lies or something is wrong with my Q9650/5870 setup.

I'm trying to prove to you that nothing is wrong with that setup and I want someone to compare C2Q to C2Q with to display that my results are on par with what others are getting which requires 2 people to be in the same server.

Ok now to discuss GPU usage, I may have been wrong in the way that I stated that my C2Q is holding back my 5870, 60% GPU usage is not the normal, it often gets up to the 90's and spikes to 100% but not that often.

The 2500k system with the 5870 its always using more the GPU and has it pegged at 98% even on 4x AA settings, the Q9650 system doesn't seem to have as high of GPU usage.

If I bump my AA to 8X while using highest settings on my Q9650/5870 setup I see the GPU usage around 90% mark, but when I go to down to 4xAA it drops down in usage.

Sorry you thought that I was getting a constant 60% GPU usage.

Does this help clear things up?

5870's are effected much more with increased AA then gtx 560/570 cards.

Here's oasis only 24 people in server with 1600x1200 8xAA 16xAF highest settings on my Q9650/5870 setup...

OK the point is you see a big difference, but your test was clearly flawed

Dont change your story now, your picture clearly shows your Q9650 rig damn near constant 60% GPU usage. I didn't mention anything about adding more AA. If I changed only AA, my GPU would be pegged at 98-100%.

Bottom line, YOUR test is flawed. It may be a difference, but your test is NOT ACCURATE. Bottom line.

All those questionable pictures and the amount the story has changed is enough for me to know the test is not accurate. I KNOW the i5 is a better chip, i'm not doubting that at all. Fact is, you wont double your FPS (like you showed in your pics and implied) moving from a Q9650 to an i5 2500k at similar clocks, in BC2.

"Q9650... GPU usage CPU bottlenecked at 60%, CPU is at ~85%..."

those were your words and the original pic clearly shows a damn near straight line at 60%

Might wanna edit the title to say (Flawed Test) PICS......

BTW, your GPU pics of your i5 look just like mine when I max everything out. HBAO on, AA max, AF max, etc...

No bottleneck there. Added HBAO, ingame setting are AA and AF x2, nVidia control panel is set to enhance in game setting, so add x16AF and x8 Super Sample AA on to that.

What the heck are you talking about man "questionable pictures, story changing"????

I've got a Q9650/5870 system and a 2500k/5870 system I load both into the same 32 man BC2 server and move both players to the same location of the map and take screenshots, both systems with the exact same in game settings. THE TEST IS 100% ACCURATE!

How could this be flawed testing, seriously man think about it?

The only thing CHANGED is that I told you I should have mentioned that the screenshot that showed the 60% GPU Usage on the Q9650 system was at a solid 60% because I was stationary in that location of the map for like 10-15minutes. At the beginning you can see it gets up to 80% When you go to other locations around the map it's different GPU usage. That location of the SS was a island way in the back at spawn of laguna where all the snipers hide out. And as I said the more AA I apply the more the GPU usage goes up on my 5870, whats no legitimate about that? It's true.

How is my testing flawed, I have the damn proof right here in front of me I'm looking at it.

SO HOW WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO DO A TEST BETWEEN Q9650/5870 and 2500k/5870 THEN?

As I said before we need to go into the same full 32man server and see what kinda fps you get at 1024x768 no AA and no AF lowest settings, this almost eliminates the GPU from the scenario and show the comparison between how your C2Q and my C2Q stand up to each other under load, I will also load in the 2500k system to see how it does.
