*PICS* BC2 - VERY LARGE GAINS with i5-2500k upgrade from Q9650 Benchmarks - Page 24

OP: Though I've read through this thread and look forward to a proper display of your thesis, it looks like your name has been slinged through the mud and also the fact you've gone on to insult people prematurely.

The one and ultimate way to get people to shut up and accept your claim is to post a video with every minor detail from obviously the hardware,BIOS,Drivers, etc. Im sure you already are aware of this but thats just my .02 cents on the matter.

My personal factless opinion is that I dont believe your claim, but please, im not bashing, this is simply an opinion.

Maybe instead of trying to make a controlled benchmark in a 32man server, you should run the benchmark from start to finish of a server alongside those that disapprove of your claim in a squad.

If you play as a squad then you would all witness a lot of similar action sequences albeit at different angles which could impact performances and thus results, however I think that would be best, again, thats just my factless opinion.

Like I already said before, Core2 can't use the full power of fast GPU's in BC2.
With my 460 SLI the difference was even bigger when upgrading from C2Q to i5 at pretty much the same speeds.

Pretty sad you needed to make a video to prove this to people, otherwise they wont believe it.

Been following this thread and the other Q9650 vs 2500K @4.0 GHz thread since they started. That's a pretty convincing video you put up here, so kudos and +rep for you just for that effort.

I'm sure those that have been constantly criticizing and thread-crapping in here are still going to dissect every bits and pieces of the video to find flaws though...

I will.

Same settings, 30/32 people in server. My results are so close to his i5 results its not even funny. When I stare at the sky, I get 170fps max, when I look at the ground I get 150fps max. When I look out straight ahead, its around 120fps.

Why is his Q9650 rig underperforming so much? That is my issue, always has been and still is.

No. DDR2 @ 1112Mhz. 4GB, Win7 64bit

You have damn near my same setup. Why dont you test it.

If I could rebuild my QX9650 @ 4 ghz system to test this (which I once intended to do as a backup system), I would LOVE to test this. Because I remember getting similar framerates as he did, except I was using a lowly HD 4890 without AA enabled. Unfortunately, I sold both my QX9650's instead of buying a EP45-UD3P for a backup system, as my P5WDH was basically burnt (4 pin connector), so I moved on.

I had a hd6970 in the QX system for a month, though, but I never ran BC2 with it.

Well I downclocked my i7-2600k to 3.4 ghz (which is close to the Qx9650@4ghz in performance) and ran BC2 and the framerates were through the roof. But I was on XP, so no AA. Going to run it again in windows 7, with 4x FSAA. If I downclock the i7-2600k to reach the same superpi speeds as a 4 ghz Q9650, I should be getting that 85-90 FPS cap that you did. If it goes up to 150-200, then something is definitely up (I have Hyperthreading disabled on purpose).

I think that something else is in play here, as it's definitely NOT the CPU itself causing the doubling of FPS. Possibly motherboard or chipset related. Since the other user is getting fps close to the i5, with a core 2 quad, it could be an issue with the board.

I know that when I run single thread games (Like morrowind or Vietcong) at both systems (I remembered my QX9650 settings and fps) at the exact same mhz, I only got about a 30%-35% difference in FPS, NOT 100% higher. But those games were so old that the videocard wasn't even being stressed that much. I'm trying to figure out here how 35% faster CPU translates to 100% faster FPS. Gotta be something motherboard related...
