Everybody knows a Sandybridge is faster than a Q9xxx. I thought the point was to see if the Q9xxx@4GHz was bottlenecking our high-end GPU's in the games we play and the resolutions, details we play them at.

For me that is 1920x1200 and as much AA and details as I can.

Frankly, I don't care if a Sandy can produce 500FPS in a certain game at 800x600 low details VS Q9650 300FPS in that same 800x600 and low details. What I care about is the resolutions/detail levels people play at. If there are huge differences in that area, then we can begin talking about bottlenecking.
Oh, don't get me wrong the tests at 1920x1200 and max are more important to me also.... I was just saying you should do the low res test to see how the performance of your P45 board and C2Q chip compares to 780i board and C2Q chip.

Code:
The point to benchmark the game at a lowest settings 1024x768 is to put more focus
onto the CPU, just like how 3dmark CPU tests, they run at ultra low resolution.

Here's some info...

http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=493

"I have to ask "Do you know that CPU benchmark are always done with low resolution?".

Why? In order to eliminate the GFX bottleneck at high resolution!

In fact, the higher the resolution you are at, the lower the impact from CPU.

Hence, it is best to compare the gaming performance between CPUs at low resolution."

"Both CPU and GPUs work harder at higher resolution than at lower resolution.

However, GPUs are far more dependent on the resolution than CPUs.

So yep, CPU bottlenecks can be sniffed out using lower resolutions and a powerful gaming GPU. "

By all means, we can run a comparison this weekend. We don't have the same graphics card, but we can do it anyway.

However, OP states that one must use online play at a 32 person server in order to know if I'm being bottlenecked or not. Well, I do not have a EA account to test this.

Anyway, when testing single player, I have tested this games engine.

I'm usually playing at 1920x1200 anyway. Most play at these resolutions. So 1600x1200 is not very interesting.
I tested it with my Q9650 @ 4.05Ghz and GTX 570 @ 830/2000. Cant use the res that OP use so i went with the normal 1920*1080. All other settings are the same.

Cpu was jumping between 80-95%, Gpu 75-90%.

Lowest Fps i saw was 70, i would say average 90, and max 130.

That was on a full 32 multiplayer server.

Compared to OP's

Q9650 Info in video:
CPU usage was around 85-95%
GPU usage was around 70-82%
RAM usage was around 2.45gb

2500k Info in video:
CPU usage was around 45-65%
GPU usage was pegged 99%
RAM usage was around 2.93gb

See pics under.

Low Fps 90, Average 130, High 190.
Cpu was jumping between 80-95%

Test done on MP 32 man.

I still think OP is getting way to low FPS on his Q9650 setup when compared to Eggy88's... Even though OP use a 5870 VS Eggy's GTX 570.. OP is also running at lower res. 1600x1200 VS Eggy's 1920x1080.

CPU and GPU usages look very similar though... But there is something wrong with OP's Q9650 setup...

That's the real power of Q9650 and high end P45 motherboard right there..

When you look at these results and OP's there's clearly something hindering SHiZNiLTi's Q9650 performance..

Hehe, got to love the good old P45's. This is turned down 450*9, i usually run it at 470*9.

Eggy, since you quoted my CPU Test Request and since your GPU usage in your screen shot is around 30% usage I'm assuming these results were done at 1024x768 low settings? Let us know, thanks.

When you take his GPU outta the equation we are actually spot on with each other. The Q9650/5870 had the same results, in my SS it shows 90fps as I'm drawing lot of objects. During the 2500k CPU test in was a constant 195-200fps.

He has a small gain (10-15fps) for his low,med and high when running normal settings(1920x1080 high graphics settings), but that's due to his better mobo and GPU.

He also needs to state what his FOV is, mine is very high and I'm drawing much more on the screen.

I ran it on mine for kicks in a 32man server, my cpu usage is only around 30%, dont think i need to upgrade haha.

Both my gpu's were pegged at ~99%

FPS was usually 70-80 range but i think i saw a low of 50. Running at 6048x1080 no AA max settings HBAO
