I've tested out (6) different video cards over a 3 month period in my Q9650 rig... The gtx570 performed worse then my 5870 at 1600x1200 2xAA 16xAF high settings with HBAO off in BC2 due to CPU bottlenecking... KEEP IN MIND THIS IS IN BC2!

Yes very good point... I've actually ran that way of testing right when I got the 2500k setup.

In a few minutes I'll set the in game graphics all to all low noAA noAF and set rez to 1024x768 and take some screenshots...

Firstly, is your mate the one on the 2500k, or are you testing yourself? (I didn't read it all).
There is no way you can get double FPS, no way at all. Either Vsync is on like others have stated, or there is something wrong with the setup with the Q9650.

Also, here is the difference between a 2500k and i7's, and the Q9650 would perform very closely to the i7's in Bad Company 2 (at these quality settings), so something in your testing is flawed for sure. And if you are comapring your rig to another persons, then that's not even an accurate measure to compare an increase in performance between 2 platforms as many things can be different.

Sigh, at 1080P you should see the exact same framerate between the 2.

Ok, let me break it down. We have 2 systems...

system 1: Q9650@4ghz,5870,780i,4gb,fresh w7x64

system 2: Q9550@3.9ghz,5870,750i,4gb,fresh w7x64

Both of these systems have exactly the same results in BC2, no fps difference, we play this game 2 hrs a day and have about 600hrs each invested into BC2 and we can both see each others screens.

system 2 removed the Q9550 and mobo from his rig and installed a i5-2500k and a MSI P67A-GD65 with 4gb of DDR3, he kept the same 5870 video card.

Does this break it down for you enough?

your comments are pointless, my thread speaks the truth. BC2 is a CPU hog, the more you feed it the more you get.

If you have a Q9650/9550 load up BC2, go into a full 32man server and check your CPU usage, I bet it's around 90% with spikes peaking to the top. This game needs more CPU power.

I'm not sure why you guys can't grasp this fact. It's pretty simple. And I have provided more then enough proof.

Also if you don't like my comment about the gtx570's performance in BC2 why don't you randomly contact any of the people who went to this LAN that I attended. I brought both cards with me to the LAN, I installed the 570 1st and launched BC2 and played a few rounds while others came watched and then installed the 5870 and to everyones surprise the 5780 performed better.

I know it's hard to believe, but it's the truth. Here's the link to the LAN contact Jodiuh or Big10, they will tell you what they saw 1st hand. This is real talk and real 1st hand experience not just crap you read on the net.

Those are socket 775 nVidia chipset boards... I have seen several people getting abnormally low Gigaflops with certain CPU's at certain speeds when compared to same CPU/frequencies running in 775 Intel chipset boards... I'm not saying this has something to do with your results, but one can wonder...

KingT, even says he has tested Bad Company 2 in 1280x1024, and even his overclocked GTX 480 was not bottlenecked by his Q9550@3.9GHz... And he is using a Asus P5Q Pro, Intel P45 chipset motherboard..

I am also using a P45 chipset mobo... So we must investigate...

As I've said, believe I've seen at least 5 or 6 people in these forums reporting way to low Gigaflops on their Q6xxx/Q9xxx CPU's in combination with nVidia chipset boards like nVidia 6xxi and 7xxi series...

What DX version are they both running? I switch mine to DX9 just for more fps.

Also, the 9650 SS's look more "bloomy". I'm betting there is a discrepancy in bc2settings.ini
