"oooh oh no what about capacitor derating???????????????????"
It's a myth, it only becomes significant after years and years of use. Capacitors can die, when ones of poor quality are used, but they don't magically turn crappy after twelve months of moderate use.

See, this is the reason I can't sell any of my review samples, the second you take it out of the box people are afraid the PSU has herpes or something. Annoying.

Sorry for late reply my internet died on me, anyways yeah It's a corsair brand, so I thought I might have received some positive feedback on it because they're known for their quality. Is it really that bad to buy a 2 year old psu?

"Oh I just felt it was the time to upgrade it" should be a red flag when buying a PSU.

He said he just wanted cash, I'm asking him right now what's his rig. Not yet replying.

I just said it's fine. No more risk than buying a used graphics card or motherboard. There's still the same risk that the guy is selling it because it's broken, or that it may have degraded, but there's NOTHING, that is NOTHING special about PSUs that make them more risky to buy used.

Alright one more thing, just wanted your opinion on XFX 650 watt pro core edition since I didn't see it on your review on xfx. Since I think, I can shell out some more money for a brand new psu.

It's pretty good. Same unit as the Corsair TXv2 650W, which I've got on my review table right now.

This.

Besides, I wouldn't worry about second hand PSU's being pushed hard. Most people baby their PSU's, and are usually scared to run it anywhere near its rated capacity.

Or they use some useless PSU calculator and get a PSU that is twice as big as they really need. The only risk is buying a really old ine (say 5 or more years old) or one of questionable quality (like a cheap piece of junk DiabloTek). If it wasn't any good when it was new it would only be worse after it was used for a couple of years.

That's why I offer a warranty on mine.

I probably have a better track record than the makers of most of the units I review, just because I take them apart and get obsessively picky with any little thing I find wrong, and then load test them again after putting them back together, but selling them without a warranty? Doesn't work very well frown.gif

So, I have a warranty. I rarely hear of any units having issues after the sale, so I figured why not have one?

What amazes me is that there are a LOT of people out there willing to buy some cheap piece of junk PSU just because it's brand new in the box that wouldn't touch a used top of the line Seasonic.
