Broke my Sony Ericsson :(

I own a Sony Ericsson C902:

So this morning, as usual, my alarm went off on my phone. It was in my bed (nothing unusual) and as i pulled the sheets over me more, it sent the phone flying in the air and landed on a clear, empty plate. The shock obviously ruined it because half hour later, i could smell burning.

I picked the phone up and it was red hot to the touch, so after frantically taking the battery out and letting it cool for an hour, it won't turn on. The lights on the buttons come on, but not the screen. Safe to say i've ruined it.

Pretty gutted, the phones lasted me four years and has been a reliable companion (if a bit sluggish/slow) and was especially useful when building my PC/maintaining my car as i could turn the xenon light on and off and use it as a flashlight.

So now i need a new phone. My budget is £200 max (321 dollars) and i basically want it to do everything my good old C902 did (transfering outlook calendar, flashlight, storing music - playing music over bluetooth on my car radio..)

Any suggestions? would be much appreciated.

Sad to hear that, the c902 is a nice phone.

The Motorola Droid? Or if you don't like that how about the HTC wildfire?

It'll be tough to find a great smartphone for under 200 pounds, but you have options.

That's over your budget by 80 pounds.

Wildfire:

Xperia X10 mini is decent, I suppose, despite poor software support by SE

My dad works for Sony Ericsson

I got a C902 a year and a half ago from my dad and I fell in love with it. Then I got the Aino and loved it even more (Keep in mind this was in Sweden, I don't think they have the Aino in US).

I have tried almost every Sony Ericsson phone and ones that stood out (in your price range) are the Aino and the Satio. I think the Satio is slightly over 200 GBP. Aino should be under, and it is a great phone. It is almost exactly like the C902 except it has touch screen support for the media player only, and you can connect it to your PS3 and use it as a controller. It also has the buttons that the C902 had. Keep in mind you will not use the touchscreen much, as the buttons are much better.

I very highly recommend the Aino. I absolutely loved it.

i would recommend HTC wildfire for your budget

The Motorola Milestone is a very nice phone, but with your budget I would go with the LG Optimus One, I have one which I chose over the HTC Wildfire at the time because it was cheaper and had a faster CPU. I love the phone.

I've never really gone for anything other then Sony Ericsson when it comes to phones, don't ask me why. I suppose i just figured as it's a recognised name, it would be more reliable.

A shame the C902 broke from such a small shock really, it hardly fell far, and has definitely experienced worse over the years.

I've been looking at the Motorola Milestone 2 smartphone (Unlocked, as i want to use my own SIM card) Web browsing or any of the like isn't my thing, i just want something thats durable, and can be used for the things my C902 was used for, such as:

Occasional video playing
Calls (Duh )
Music (esp via bluetooth to car radio)
Photo's (Higher quality the better)
Video capture (Definitely want something better than the c902 in this regard)
Calendar (Want to transfer outlook calendar to phone, and update it when necessary)
Flashlight (Not a big deal, but would be very convenient)

GPS, Internet/internet chat really isn't something i'm interested in.

You think the Milestone 2 fits those needs? it is over budget, but i think it looks nice (I prefer a square look over the bubble/curved shape of most smartphones) I've yet to read anything about video capture on this phone though..

As in the Xperia X10? You have to be kidding me. One of the worst releases of last year. In no means am I condoning your purchase (well a little) but there are lots of other superior options for the OP. Plus it'd be out of his price range.
