ATI 6970 Crossfire overclock

Thread Starter
Hi guys

I recently put together my 2 gigabyte ATI 6970s in crossfire mode and I'm wondering what you guys think I will be able to overclock them to? Plus what temperatures are considered "safe" in your OPINION.

I mostly play FPS games and always try to maintain 250fps at all times.

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks smile.gif

Cheers!

OC them to 950/1450.

Use MSI AB and create a custom fan profile, I make it so mine doesnt go above 65.

250fps in what game?

Load temp is what's important, idle means very little and varies by a lot. Under 90C is what you should be aiming for. I've seen people get 950/1400+ with 6970 voltages (1.175v)

I wouldn't bother going much higher than 900/1400 or 950/1450 (What ever stock voltage will allow). The difference in going higher would only be seen in benchmarks and not real world application.

lol even with fps games, you won't notice any more fluidity from 60fps to 250fps, try playing with vsync on to see that it'll cap you to your refresh rate whatever it is, 60hz, 75hz, etc. but i've heard that vsync introduces some mouse turn delay so for fps purposes i'd keep it off.

250fps... wat?
u mad? you won't notice between 100 and 1200 fps, your monitor still wont be able to handle it..

You don't need 250fps, lol. 60 or above is enough for FPS games (unless you're hardcore like me, going for 100hz with smooth gameplay on a 120hz screen).

COD4/MW2 never scaled well with CFX. Good luck.
