Should i upgrade? (ATI 5870) - Page 3

I had a 5870 and upgraded to a GTX580, even though there is a big FPS improvement, your eye cant really tell the difference as they are both good cards. If money is of any concern then go Xfire and look for a cheap 5870, the 580 is awesome tho, i just got it becuase i need to always upgrade becuase it's like a sickness. Now i'll have to grab another 580 for when B3 comes out for SLI, even if i dont need it

5870 is still a great card

I see no point... I have 4870CF (which performs roughly the same ss your 5870), and I see no reason to update yet. At least wait for the 7000-series to come out (that is what I am doing).

I'm changing over my current setup to the new 1155 sandy bridge for the I7 and I just don't have a clue if this would be worth the money?

Can anyone help me out?

Apologises if this has already been posted.

hd6870 is slower than hd5870,so its not at all an upgrade,hd6870's performence falls between hd5850 & hd5870,like others said I would also recommend u to wait for amd 7xxx series gpu.

5870 still have good performance @ DX11 games~
you haven't to replace it.

Don't do it OP. I don't think there's a reason to upgrade until there's a card that can give you a minimum of 60 FPS in Crysis at full settings (without AA) at 1080p.

just wait for AMD 7 series, but if you have enough budget, maybe you could try to get 6990 or 590, they're no longer published in the market. Of course you should prepare much more money to get these exteme performance cards.

Thread Starter
Thank you for all the advice, I'm going to stick with what i have now and wait to see what happens. If i do need a upgrade then i'll either buy another 5870 or sell my current 5870 and upgrade to a next gen nv card or a 7xxx series of amd.
