From PICS, does this MSI 6950 have a BIOS SWITCH, and so should be unlockable type

Here's the link to the MSI 6950 2GB, model R6950-2PM2D2GD5 I will order this tue/wed

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127555&cm_re=6950_2gb-_-14-127-555-_-Product

With people talking of revision 2 cards that only have 1 BIOS, and can't unlock...

Please look at the PICS on the link (hopefully newegg uses up to date pics of the actual exact card type)

Is that black thing in between the adapter plate and the PCIe plug, the BIOS switch?

It does have a dual bios w/switch.However it is not a reference design and will not have extra shaders to unlock.

Very Solid Card
Pros: Unlockable and overclockable
Very solid reference design 6950

Cons: It's a reference design, so that means reference design cooling, which is pretty good but not great.

Other Thoughts: Out of the box this is a great card with excellent bang for the buck. I have since flashed the bios on mine to unlock the extra shaders (did not use 6970 bios) and am using the latest Afterburner to overclock to 940/1375 @ 1.18V (so far) with a custom fan profile (no guarantee of course that you will be able to do the same). I am very pleased with the results and the positive impact on my gaming experience (coming from a ATI 4850).

Did you find this review helpful?

2nd review... maybe it'll work
Pros: Fast
Unlockable to a 6970
Runs cooler than my 4890

Cons: Maybe the rebate, but we will have to wait and see what happens. If I don't get it I'll re-think my review rating.

Other Thoughts: Some people say these cards were just lower clocked 6970's, but they have different memory chips. I was able to get a stable 890/1365, but nothing above that. If you want a fast card and want to save yourself 70 bucks get this. You may get a card that hits higher marks, but like all things O.C. you may not be able to. I'm happy with where I'm at with the card. We will see what the temps do when the 2nd one arrives.

Both the links you posted are reference boards...Reference has nothing to do with stickers.

reference
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127555&cm_re=6950-_-14-127-555-_-Product

Non-reference
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127562&cm_re=6950-_-14-127-562-_-Product

Get it?

Also, Newegg isnt bound by the image they post. Even if they show you a cars with the back plate and bois switch, there is still a small chance you will get a revision 2 card. If that happens, contact them and return for a rev1 card. You have 30 days to get your money back.
