470SLI or 480SLI differences? - Page 3

Sheesh, people. Perhaps we can all agree to this:

At max OC's, the 480's will:
1) Be about 15% faster
2) Be about 15% louder (I think that's at a minimum, but ... for the sake of consensus )
3) Use about 15% more power
4) Exhaust about 15% more heat
5) Run at about the same temps due to the improved heatsink

So the logical thing to do is look at prices, and judge accordingly

If you already own a 470, I think this question is a no-brainer, though.

go sli your psu can handle it

Check your PSU's specs, see how many amps it can pull from the 12V.
A decent 750W may do for SLI 480s if you keep it stock and from your specs your not pushing your CPU much either.

But of course SLI 470 is the most cost effective way while you already running one.

Also, second on the 480 for the false statement of heat and power.
As for overclock potential, I do not own a 470, but compares to the reviews, my 480s are much better than their results where I can run stock VID (SD) @ 825 core about on par with SLI 580s.
With good air cooling, it's not that hot.

Lasty, surround vision/eyefinity kills any SLI/CF setup.

Thread Starter
I've read all your inputs and debates and they seem accurate.
I already have a 470 and I don't think I'll sell my 470 and upgrade to a 480.
Sli'd 470's will do fine, overclocking them will do even better.

I have 2 questions.
1- What are reasonable overclock's on a 470?
2- Just how graphics intensive will Battlefield 3 be?

I'll look into how many amps my PSU can pull.
and
I will get another 470 in the future. Some time over the summer.
