No it wont fit underneath. Look inside it, you can see the tab you need to lift

Nicely done, it is amazing how some of the simplest changes can make a big impact on looks - moving the drive to the bottom and turning it around not only cleaned up the look, it helps you hide the bottom cables a little. Considering the limited space in your case, 8.5 as well
