Cooler Master 212+ install

Thread Starter
I'm a noob at this stuff. I want to put a CM 212+ on my cpu, but I'm a little uneasy about having to remove the mobo for the install. Is it an easier than it seems? I'm sure this was covered on the official 212 thread but its over 500 pages long. thanks for the info.

Its not that hard to remove the mobo. Just unplug everything, remove the screws holding it in, and pull it out. Just be careful and you will be fine.

Edit: If you cant figure out how to attach the 212 here is the guide on their website.

unplug everything from the motherboard.
remove anything blocking the motherboard...
unscrew the motherboard and remove it...
it just seems intimidating.

I had to pull my mobo out for my 212+ install. It was completely worth it and I'm actually glad that I had to take it out, because now I know how. It's a good learning experience and helps you get comfortable with the hardware side of the computer.

COOLER MASTER HAF 933?

Your 932 should have a window. You might not need to take your mb off. OP's case appears to be from a couple of generations back: the pics at Newegg show no cpu window on the mb tray. For him there's no alternate method.

But those CM mounts are not terrible. The Z600R wasn't terrible. Just be grateful you're not installing a Mugen 2. Those are a . . . bad word to install.

Ugh... Mugen 2...

My friend's Hyper212+ was definitely a breeze compared to this big boy. Smaller, lighter, easier mounting bracket, and half a dozen more reasons. I could easily have done it with the mobo mounted. If you do it with the mobo mounted, consider popping the fan off for an easier time if you run into any troubles. Just remember to put it back when you're done.

I was thinking to recommend the Zalman CNPS5X since it installs from the front. No rear motherboard access is required.

But I see your Phenom is unlocked to 4 cores. The CNPS5X is insufficient cooling for a 4-core 45nm cpu in hot Florida weather .... unless you dont overclock. It's better suited to dual cores.

There should be other air coolers which install only from the front.

Here's my thread on the CNPS5X, just in case you're interested.
