I liked Crysis (1) actually.

It is what I consider an FPS's FPS (in the context of referring to someone as a man's man).

The game allows you to run and gun, blow crap up, destroy buildings, or sneak around. The levels are large and densely detailed, the animations and dynamics are rather impressive - lots of small things that impressed me.

For example, sniper in distant watch tower. Launch bazooka at said watch tower, watch the whole thing crumble. Ever played a game where you planted a bomb at what appeared to be a weak building and it still stood there just like before? I hate that.

I liked how they handled the weapon animations - for the assault rifles, if you reloaded before running out of ammo, the character swaps out the magazine. If the gun is empty, the magazine is swapped the the charging handle is pulled - just like a real rifle using the inevitable 'there's still a round in the chamber' rule.

Small stuff like that made me appreciate the game, in addition to the fact that it was really ahead of its time. Crysis still remains impressive to this day and it came out a few years ago.
