[X-bit] Four AMD Bulldozer Chips Incoming: Details Revealed. - Page 11

Hopefully AMD retains it`s propteries as the best bang-for-your-buck cpu maker.
If not I`ll pick up some 955 BE`s that are marked down once bulldozer comes out.

i7 Sandy Bridge = 10% faster per clock then i7 Nehealm.

i7 Ivy Bridge = 20% faster per clock then i7 Sandy Bridge.

So...

i7 Ive Bridge = 45% faster per clock then Core 2 Quad and Phenom 2.

Equals...

Bulldozer = 5% faster per clock then i7 Ivy Bridge.
the guy in the video says 30% to 50% for BD over phenom II, amd just released drivers for the 6k series graphics cards that claim "up to 70%" with various test i've seen, it is more like 25% to 35%.

so it might be more realistic to think BD is somewhere between nehalem and sandy bridge when it comes to performance...

Are they going to bring out actual Bulldozer - or is it just going to be this FX garbage?

Naming is everything, and if they bring out FX rather than Bulldozer - I'll stick with Phenom, because at least it's a cool name.

Err, your math is wrong.

Assuming Phenom 2/Core 2 Quad = 100 % per clock then Nehalem is 15% faster, hence its 115 %

Sandy Bridge is 10% faster, so its 10% of 115% = 126.5%

Ivy Bridge, therefore, comes out to be almost 152%.
I'm expecting Bulldozer to be slightly slower than Sandy Bridge in single-threaded workloads while close to Ivy Bridge in multi-threaded workloads.

Will you be amazed if it just happens to look like every other AMD chip since 2005? No offense, I will be :O face too...

I saw that graphic too. Look at the top though. That is what they expect to position themselves with in the Second Half 2011 (Q3-Q4). So I don't see them releasing anything more grand this year.

Also look where the 8 Core Bulldozer is in the price bracket. It is below the I7 2600, which means it will be priced lower.

LOL that is so confusing and most likely wrong

... yeah ... those "calculations" are 99,99% of the times terribly wrong ... why? Because it's only based on marketing materials
