ram issue.

Thread Starter
hey ocn i have a problem with my pc. my pc keeps crashing and i think its my ram. the pc started to crash a little bit after i put another 4gb of ram in. now i thought i had the same ram(same makers) but i took another look and the timings are different. now my question is would this make my pc crash from time to time? also is there a way where i can get them both to work without going back to buy another 4gb of the same?

1 set of 4gb ddr3 sticks are 8-8-8 pc3 12800 (OCZ obsidian model)
1 set of 4gb ddr3 sticks are 9-9-9 pc3 12800 (OCZ gold model)

my specs are in the sig and if there is anything else let me know thanks in advance!

yes
is there a way where i can get them both to work without going back to buy another 4gb of the same?
maybe

1 set of 4gb ddr3 sticks are 8-8-8 pc3 12800
1 set of 4gb ddr3 sticks are 9-9-9 pc3 12800

There is a fourth # called Ras Act Time.
ex: 9-9-9-"RasActTime"
google your model # for volts & timing

Try this>

Set in bios drambus voltage to spec, save to desktop.
Restart to bios, go to dram timing ctrl>
hilite dram cas# lat change to 9
hilite dram ras # to cas# delay to 9
hilite dram ras# pre time to 9
hilite dram ras# act time to whatever is spec on slowest ram, 24?
save to desktop

Another thing(s) to try>

rotate pairs, 9-9-9- in black slots & 8-8-8 in blue slots.
roatate pairs, 8-8-8- in black & 9-9-9 in blue slots.

or
reset cmos
