Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum, and having never built a computer in my life; I could do with a little help :L I have done some research, secured a budget and hypothetically designed my desktop. I have used this forums 'system' section in the sig bar to post the specs and components! I'd be very appreciative if you could tell me if the components will work when assembled lol. If you need to know anything else about it please ask! THANKS IN ADVANCE OVERCLOCKERS!

.also i apologise if this is the wrong section, or I made some stupid error like that, Its mah first post

Your budget is far too processor-heavy in comparison to your GPU. (I'm assuming this is a gaming machine)

Get an i7-920 and use the extra money to upgrade that GPU.

I don't know that the CNPS9900 fits the 1366 socket. Check that for me. Also, it's silly to get an i7 and an aftermarket cooler and not overclock.

The rest seems fine.

ah thanks very much, I'll address those things. I was planning to overclock, just not straight away xD, knowing me I'd blow it up or something. I chose the 950 because I do a lot of video editing, compositing and 3D work. I'm planning to do SOME gaming in it, but it wont be top priority for meh. I'll look into the 920 instead of the 950 now

sorry friend, at the minute where I am, we are basically restricted to buying components on amazon.co.uk because newegg isnt in the UK! The 950 is actually quite a bit cheaper than the 920 right now! I believe this is because intel are trying to get rid of their 950s in anticipation for the new sandys. I think XD!

If it fits in your budget,
Get a ait HD6950 ( 2GB ) and unlock it to a ati HD6970 (very easy and very powerful)
If you don't want to unlock, get a GTX 570 or a normal 6970.
And if your budget can take it: a GTX 580 or 6990
FOR GAMING
If used for 3d work,
get an Nvidia card ( GTX 560?)
Or even a Quadro card ( these are special for 3D modeling and GPGPU coding)
(ask advice for the last option, I'm not home in this sort of stuff)

EDIT: especially if you do video coding , get an Nvidia card and use the card to encode your video instead of the CPU ( more efficent in time, heat and power)
