I need 1.375 for 4.2.I would suggest using a 20 or 21x multiplier and like 1.24 for your imc voltage.

I don't think its my IMC voltage since my BLCK can run at 200 with a low CPU speed (15x multi), and it had no problems.

EDIT: If I'm correct, IMC voltage is for the QPI link's voltage, and raising the BLCK increases the QPI frequency as well, right?

Your temps are good, you should be able to up the vcore no problems, have you tired setting your blck to 200 and having ram at its default speed of 1600, manually setting timings? also setting your DRAM to 1.64v. Try your IMC voltage at 1.24v or 1.26v.

QPI Freq is set to lowest setting or is that auto?

By the looks of it, your going to need alot more voltage if you wanna hit 4ghz with your chip. Try keep below 1.4v cos ur on air. Keep IMC within 0.5v of your vcore for stability.

I think some people needed 1.35v to hit 4ghz.

Ok, so I tried raising the voltage as u suggested,

I set the BLCK to 200 (19x Multi), for 3.8Ghz, This is what I got for each voltage:

At 1.32V - BSOD after 15 seconds prior to windows desktop's appearance

at 1.33V - It froze right after The Desktop + Icons appeared

at 1.344-1.35V - It failed P95 after 19 minutes

I then decided to lower the BLCK to 195 for 3.7Ghz, and now P95 has been going for 45 minutes flawlessly at 1.344-1.35V

I don't know if I should raise the voltage even higher and go for an even higher overclock.

The thing is that, as u said, it should have been able to reach 4Ghz with this voltage, but since it can't even make... 3.8

Does this mean that I got a chip from a bad batch?

I thought my chip was bad. Need about 1.27 for 3.8ghz, and 1.32 for 4.0ghz.

The maximum safe temp for i5 750's is about 72c, you still have some room to play with if you felt comfortable with it. But by the looks of it, you may just have a bad chip that just can't hit it.

One more thing, by keeping IMC (vtt) as low as possible stable, your temps will drop and you can aim for a slightly higher vcore. But that means sacrificing high memory clocks, even more, keep it at or below stock ratings.
I did that procedure in order to reach 4.0ghz with only 1.32v

You could try that, but it takes a little tweaking around...

Hi all, I've been testing my i5 750 for some time now.

I want to keep the speed step etc on to save energy and temps when idle.

So with the CPU at 3,6GHz - 21x171 with the Core voltage set at auto, I read 1,248V in CPU-Z(fixed).

Temps go to around 80°C when running OCCGT but when gaming even with something demanding it is in 65-73°C tops.


I was wondering if I could set the core voltage lower than what I get with auto? - 1,248V

Is there any danger of damaging the CPU by testing it with too low Vcore?
