Depends what you're doing, your comparing a structurally superior CPU w/o HT to a structurally inferior CPU with HT.

i7 875K? I cant find this model im afraid, however there is some good news! there is a 2600k, now it all depends on what you need, do you do allot of video encoding or just play games?

If games go for the 2500k.

Well, if the i7 970 drops another $80, that's where I'm headed. But I won't need a new board to do it. Your going to need a new board with either of those chips. I guess it depends on what your doing with it!
Sorry, go with the 2500k!

Even though the 2500k lacks SMT, its still faster than the 875k due to the Sandy Bridge architecture and new instructions.

2500k all the way. See for yourself: Here

They don't have the 875k listed but I just replaced it with the 965 Extreme. In most tests, including encoding and rendering, the 2500k wins and in some it loses but whatever deficit there its can easily be circumvented by a bump in clock speed. 4.8Ghz = better than all.
