my fist ssd

Thread Starter
hello i dont know which ssd to choose. i only give 100pounds maximum for an ssd of 80gb. i want it to have aproximately 300mb/s read and write.also i would like to know if 300mb/s R/W are good enough for multitasking and loading files very fast
thanks will rep

edit
i wont notice a huge difference on read and write .now my hdd have 60mb/s read and write, i though buying an ssd on 300mb/s w/r it will be a huge performance upgrade.

You can't get over 80GB for less than 100GB on newegg.com
THe 40GB ones cost $109

SSD is not cheap performance. If you want cheap, get small HDD's and RAID.

you wont' get close to 300 read/write you will most likely get 200 read and 100 write but its still good anyways i have a F60

BTW you wont' even notice a difference on read and right, unless you run benchmarks...

I'd recommend an Intel x25m 80gb. Very reliable, and the new versions have TRIM support. As said above you're not going to feel a huge difference in rw speeds, but a Vertex 2 or C300 will perform faster than the Intel. Not sure what the going rate for SSDs is over there but these should fit your budget. Hope that helps.

Edit: the Vertex 2 and C300 only come in 64 or 128 GB (obviously less usable space than that). So you'd have to decide if you could line with less space or pay more for the 128 version.

Well yes any good SDD will be a huge upgrade. But you're going to have trouble finding an SSD with reads in the 300s on your budget. The SSDs I mentioned read in the 200s.
