It locks up the system and it will eventually shut down and he did mention screen freezing, so his issue may be PB.

I have not played anything else lately, I have LFD2 and Counter Strike amongst others to try but I am in a group that has its own server so it stick to BF right now. Someone in my game suggested punkbuster, what is the solution for that?

Sounds like PB, though it would help if you could try other games. As for a solution, it really depends. I used to have this loads (I reinstalled windows twice and still it didn't fix it) and I tried just about everything else, reinstalling the games, PB, messing with registry entries and all that but nothign worked and one day it just stopped crashing.. and I slowly lost interest in BFBC2 soon after too.. lol

You can try some of the fixes mentioned in the other thread but none of them are guaranteed to work 100% because they may work for one person and not another. But I think you should try some other games first. And how in the game, until it crashes? Does it do so very soon (10 minutes of playing) and is always the same or are the times random?

klook ,define what shutdown means to you as we are having problems here. smile.gif

PB error or any software error should not turn the PC off.
The PC resets or shows a BSOD code from which you reset manually ,if it stays on screen. So Razi3l you are wrong.

Ok, got rid of punkbuster and cant get it back?

Anyhoo, the screen freezes and all keys are locked up, have to reboot to get back in. No warning, no problems, It is generally about the same amount of time. I played a whole map at first tonight and it crashed in the middle of the second one.

I did not do enough research before I got this rig, but it has worked well up until now. I have no idea as to the quality of the power supply, it was included in the build.

Gotta forget it for tonight, the thing runs great when no in BFBC2, I'll try another game tomorrow.

To get PunkBuster back, download and run "pbsvc.exe" from the link in the first paragraph on this page...

http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsvcfaq.php

Also, try unplugging your power connections inside your computer and then plugging them back in to make sure there are no loose connections.

Is your rig is still under warranty?

As long as he is using "Xtremegear 600w" as PSU he can troubleshoot for months. I ll end here my participation in this topic.

Thanks for all the help. I have regained Punkbuster and I will be replacing the power supply. I will research it in here before I make my purchase.

Just a recommendation... take a look at corsair psus. I have one and built a machine for a friend with one. Rock solid psus. If you arent looking for much of a psu upgrade take this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139020

I personally have the older version of this one and my friend has this exact one. Its only a bit more and is future proof unless you plan to go quad xfire mad...

This problem may be related to Realtek audio. Change the sound quality to "low" from the settings file within the BFBC2 folder located in "my documents".

I stimulated the economy and got an Ultra 750w PS. It failed on the first run of BFBC2. I will try some of the other fixes.

Ok, verified my files in steam, defraged them, and changed the setting in my documents to low. IT still crashed. On to the next thing.
