New here, having fun with my first big OC

Waiting on a Corsair A70 to come on Tuesday to deal with my heat issues, but other then that it's stable in windows right now (I think). When the HSF comes I'll start some real tests as prime95 takes cpu over 62*C in about 1 minute right now.

But...

1090t @ 4Ghz (228x17.5) @ ~1.4v
Northbridge @ ~2750Mhz @ 1.25v

Might have to bump the voltage up later when I have some more headroom with the heat. Anyone have luck with 4Ghz stable at that voltage?

Yeah tons of people have hit 4GHz on a 1090t, but usually not at 1.4v, usually close to 1.5v. But lots also recommend you don't go over 60C either, so make sure to keep your temps down. Looks real good so far

One thing I'll mention that you might not have been expecting is, the Corsair A70 will point the fans vertically up/down on AMD rather than blowing air out the rear intake like on the intel versions. Don't ask me why they chose to do it that way. So make allowances for that ahead of time for your heat dissipation.

There's also a guide on how to change it around on these forums somewhere, I'll see if I can find it.

EDIT: http://www.overclock.net/air-cooling...ontal-amd.html

a bit of work, but might be worth it depending on your rig.

i would personally drop the multi don to at least 17 and see what the temps are. you might have to go lower. 62c only 1 minute into prime is a lot more than too hot.

I hope that thing fits. I've got a Thermaltake V3 case. Nothing fancy but it does have those vents on the top of the case. I've got a 120mm fan on the forward most opening there and figured that the a70 would blow the hot air right out of the upper rear opening. We'll see I guess.

Another good performance boost since it looks like you got a golden chip...is to take the cpu-nb up to 3000mhz

cant call it a golden chip at all yet. it hits 62c in prime within a minute.
he has no idea if its going to be stable. he has to wait for his a70 unfortunately.
its definitely to early to call it anything but a cigarette lighter

It's pretty much a cig lighter at stock speeds. Just turned everything back down and am running p95. 10 minutes in it looks to have leveled off at 54*C. 2 more days...

After some more tinkering this afternoon I think i've got it squared away. Lowered FSB and voltage to keep load temps down. Haven't spent too much time in prime95 yet, but after about 1 hour temps were at 54*C. This chip seems to run on low voltage. When I run prime95 it ups itself to 1.37v from 1.34v (is that normal for Vcore to go up under load like that?). That A70 helped a bunch too, cold as ice.

CPU-Z validation thing

Out of interest why are you only running the ram around 1500? And you have dropped its speed from earlier?
