I swapped out Memory and Computer starts, but won't Load, More Power?

Thread Starter
I just put in 8GB of Kingston PC8500 and My computer turned on, sat there for awhile, and restarted...endlessly.

I took out two sticks and put only 4GB and it turned on fine. I am wondering if my 600 COOLER MASTER is to blame.

Otherwise my only other guess is I need to go into BIOS and adjust some settings? (Everything is on Auto)

I imagine this is nothing to do with your cooler master 600 at all, I can't see why it would be really???

Probably either faulty RAM, a compatibility issue or a CMOS issue!

Perhaps one of your memory sticks has gone bad. You say it works with 2, try mixing them up to see if you can find the bad one.

Well I took this Memory out of my other computer, and put it into this one. (Other one worked fine)

I was reading about compatability issues with this Motherboard, which leads me to believe that perhaps may be the Culprit? Although I've think I've read some people having this exact setup.

How would I test for a CMOS issue ( a little unsure what that is)

Basically what I am doing is taking three computers, and putting all the best components into one, the mid-level components into a third, and buying a few components to make a third computer. But I am considering now purchasing a newer motherboard for this setup, and "handing-down" this current motherboard

Cooler Master has several units in the 600W range, some of which are crap, others not. So which exact unit do you have?
But anyway, RAM needs very little power, I doubt your PSU is to blame here.
Swap memory and see which one is the problem, use 2 sticks at a time and when it starts having problems take one stick out. If it still has problems swap sticks with the one you just took out. Then the one you take out is the bad stick.

EXACTLY what are the 4 sticks of ram you are using?

EXACTLY which psu are you using?

Which bios revision are you using?

Are you overclocking your system, and if so how high?

I can run my sig rig off of an Antec Earthwatts 430. It is possible that it's a power supply issue knowing how low quality a lot of the Coolermaster PSU's are, but without knowing more specifics of which one you have it's impossible to know for sure.

My advice, aside from posting the requested information above is to use 2 sticks of ram, go into the bios, set the vdimm to 2.2 or 2.3v (depends on what your specific ram calls for). If your sticks aren't the exact same models of Kingston use the higher of the two vdimm listed. Raise the mch voltage a notch or two as sometimes it needs a little extra to run 8 gigs of ram. Also set the Dram Performance Enhance to Standard. Quite often Turbo or Extreme will work with 2 sticks but not 4 or with 4gigs but not 8. You might need to clear the bios, load optimal defaults, reboot and make your changes for your specific needs to get things back on track.

Also, try posting in the EP45-UD3 thread listed in my sig. There are a lot of very knowledgeable people in that thread who would be able to help you. I imagine it's a bios setting that needs to be changed, although until we know more about your hardware there is no way to know for sure. If you do post over there, be sure to first download the EP45 MIT from my sig, fill it out with all of your bios settings, then copy and paste it into your post. Use the advanced editor and change the font for it to Courier New so it formats correctly. And be sure to include all of the information previously requested in this post over there as they will need to know all of that to give accurate recommendations.
