So my current headphones took a crap.... sort of. Mom steps on cord, head moves, YANK... and the rest is history.
I'm not looking to spend much since this is going to be a whop out of my Bulldozer upgrade funds, but anyways I'm intent on purchasing something real good this time around now that I know what's good and what's not. The first place I've decided to look is Craigslist.
Mostly expensive Dr. Dre's there but I did find a few awesome specialties for not too much. They're mostly from the 80s and 90s:
  • Sony DR-S3 (I found these ones for real cheap, and apparently they're fairly good, but that's on little info)
  • AKG K-280 (really good model apparently as well)
  • AKG K-240 (newer, slightly cheaper than the K-280; going by model number I'd think this would be slightly low end, but I know nothing about them; I've found more info about this though, apparently they are studio-class)

Does anyone know anything about these models?

EDIT: Okay cross the DR-S3 out as that ad was super cheap and a month old, they are likely gone. I'm in between the two AKG ones. The K-240s get really good reviews; the K-280, if going by model number, should sound better, but I don't have any reviews on them.... the K-280 is only around $10 more, fairly manageable. Anyone?
EDIT 2: They are both 55 ohms..... does this mean they need an amp of sorts or will they run fine off my comp? I also plan to invest in some other decent sound equipment soon i.e. a sound card or DAC or whatever I can find.
