Western Digital Caviar Black at 3g/s

Thread Starter
The problem is that my drives which should work at the transfer speed of 6g/s are running at 3g/s. It was like this when I first put together my computer back in september, but I didn't bother doing anything about it. Now i formatted my computer and figured maybe it would be a good time to address the issue. Any suggestions or is anyone else having a similar problem?

If your motherboard does not have 6gb/s sata ports they will run in sata II mode instead of sata III 6gb/s

Now for the kicker.....
Mechanical hard drives can't saturate a sataII connection....
So you notice no performance hit between the 2 modes so your good to go enjoy the speed of raid 0

hope that helped.....

^^This...

Otherwise...just double check that you are using the correct SATA ports that support SATA 6Gb/s. Just to repeat the same post above...you shouldn't see a difference since regular hard drives don't even take full advantage of SATA 3Gb/s in the first place let alone SATA 6Gb/s.

Most mechanical drives can't even take full advantage of 1.5Gbps.
