Antec 300 Side Intake (140mm?) - Page 2

i love my 300 too. i have 3 of them for various builds.

like someone already said, antec changed the case market when the 300 came out. there was nothing even close to it for its price point.

Yes. Opinions differ. I thought we had ended the discussion with that. But you have seen fit to post the above. So I will add this:

I ditched my Antec 4480II. Gave it away, psu and all. I could have bought the five year old Antec 300. But I bought a good case instead. If I had a bit more room I would have bought a Cooler Master.

Cases are a big tradeoff. None are designed the way I would design a case. Instead, they sell what they think people will buy. And when your Dell dies and you need to learn all about building a computer in a hurry - learn about cpu's, mb's, RAM, gpu's - you might in your ignorance take a shortcut and buy a case based on a company's rep. Only then do you learn that the company's rep is based on cases people bought five years ago - cases that are still on offer.

I consider the money I spent on an Antec case to be tuition. I did get educated.

But now I am going to unsub. What you feed will grow, and it's time to stop feeding this diversion.

Love my A300 as well. As others have said, it all depends on price point and personal taste. I just like the way it looks and have made it look even better with some simple mods. For under $50, you can't really ask for more.

Thread Starter

I just ended up attaching the 140mm to the side intake with styrofoam pieces. I know it's really ghetto but my temps are really good so far.. Ambient temp is about 20C. My cpu is running on a spare Arctic Cooling Alpine64 Cooler and my gpu is attached to the Arctic Cooling Twin Turbo.
