What do you think the issue is? - DRAM_LED Lit

After quite a long time of troubleshooting and some money spent, I've narrowed by "No display on first boot" issue down to a few possible problems.

Here's what constitutes the most important information from troubleshooting:

After installing a motherboard speaker, I get 1 long + 2 short beeps with no RAM in when I turn the computer on, which does in fact indicate I have no RAM in - So everything checks out to this point. When I put 1 stick of RAM in the A1 slot (the proper slot indicated by the manual... I have tried others just in case), I get the DRAM_LED on and no beeps from the speaker, and no display still. I originally had a set of 2000 Mhz ram and tried 1 stick at a time to make sure none were broken but all three of these did the same as above (DRAM_LED on and no beeps and no display). I bought a cheap, compatible stick from a local dealer and tried this as well and still the same issue.

So what's the problem guys?

According to Asustek support the problem comes from one of the following:

1. Bad RAM - I doubt this due to the fact that I even went out and bought a cheap, compatible stick. Although I suppose it's still a possibility...

2. Bad CPU - Apparently the memory controller for this chipset comes from the CPU so this is a potential problem according to Asustek support. I don't know the probability of this occurring so I couldn't really say... Although considering the lack of CPU_LED I would stray from this option, personally.

3. Bad Mobo - Obviously Asustek tried to get me to stray from RMA'ing the Motherboard, but this is the option I went with. I should have a replacement by Wednesday, but I'd like to know if you guys think that this will fix the problem. I really need this to be up and running ASAP.

Here are my system specs:

Case - Antec twelve hundred V3
Graphics card - Asus GTX 560
Power Supply - Antec CP-1000
RAM - Patriot Viper Extreme 6gb (3x2gb) DDR3 2000Mhz
CPU - i7 950
Motherboard - Asus Sabertooth X58
HDD - Hitachi 1TB 7200 RPM Sata
Fan - Cooler Master Hyper 212+
SSD - OCZ Vertex 2 60GB
Monitor - Asus 23.6" widescreen

Please let me know what you think the issue is. All help is much appreciated!

Try this: Insert ONE stick of ram at a time to the first slot on the MOBO and turn the system on. If it works, try the next slot on the mobo, if it doesnt work - most likely that ram slot is broken.

Any other thoughts?

I had this on a Rampage III Gene, and it turns out that the CPU wasn't seated correctley. Reseated, and it booted right up.

Well, I just rechecked the monitor to make sure I wasn't delusional the first time. I reset the CMOS and reseated the CPU and heatsink (I didn't notice any bent pins although it's kind of tough to see with no camera). I tried all of the RAM slots again and still no display.

I guess I'm playing the waiting game for the new motherboard unless anyone has any other suggestions. Thanks for the help so far.

Wellp, I got the new motherboard and hooked everything back up and of course I have the same bloody issue. At least we can check motherboard off the list.

I did come to a bit of an epiphany though that I really wish I had realized before -
Like I said in the original post, the CPU is a potential problem because it has the memory controller. I just remembered that when I hold down the memOK! button, the DRAM_LED does NOT start blinking like it's supposed to (even after holding for 5+ minutes like recommended), but it stays on AND the CPU_LED stays on as long as I'm holding down the memOK! button. I just realized by thinking why on earth would this happen, that when the motherboard is trying to preform the tests on the memory with the memok feature, it isn't getting past the CPU so the CPU_LED lights up. Does this make sense to anyone else or am I completely crazy? It seems to me that this would be the issue.
