I'm personally lost, I have never had driver issues with ATI or Nvidia....ever.
I use both brands.
I had two XFX 5770's then I started running a Gigabyte 5870, currently running one 5770 until I get time to reinstall the 5870 back in. Been running 10.5 drivers the whole time! Never had a single issue.

Why do I always hear about driver problems around here? What the heck are you people expecting out of these drivers anyways? Why are you always changing them like dirty underwear?

IMO if some of yal would just stop tinkering with them you wouldn't have all these problems. lol

kinda pisses me off that people are so damn ignorant... maybe you should send amd an email and offer YOUR expertise, perhaps? all this whining. does anyone need a tissue?
No need to get so angry, wow. I was simply stating the unfortunate events I had to go through, so I relate to Lord Xeb's claims.

I NEVER had any driver issues until 11.x

For example, I reformatted a month ago. After installing all of the updates, I proceeded to install the 11.1 drivers. I installed them, restarted and proceeded to install all of my games and what not. Not even ten hours later I was getting display crashes and huge FPS loss.

I go back to 10.12a, everything's back to normal and I haven't gotten a single crash since.

If by PEBKAC you mean "horrible drivers" instead of user error, yeah I agree man!

I've had an ATI issue, but it only effected one game. (BC2 would randomly crash.)

Not enough for me to switch cards over, but congrats on your new setup ^_^

That's because its the truth.

I have owned many, MANY graphics cards from both camps, and other camps that are out of business. I have never ONCE had a graphic driver related error when using ANY single card. However, I have FREQUENTLY had errors when running more than one card at a time (crossfire / SLI or not).

The drivers (on either side of the fence) are not expressly written with multi GPU users in mind honestly. Think about it. We (multi GPU users) are a very VERY small part of the market to AMD and Nvidia. They really don't care too terribly much about us, even though we typically spend the most money at once. They concentrate far too much on making the single GPU systems work properly, as that's what a good 95% or more of the population will ever use.

Except for questionable Linux support, i've never had any driver problems with either Ati or Nvidia.

I just don't know how people manage to get so much problems with them.

i'm no programmer to tell how good or bad their coding is, but i would never call them horrible

no one is angry, man. and i apologize for coming off that way.... i just don't agree that either nvidia or ati makes 'horrible drivers'. sometimes it is a problem with leftover files from the previous drivers, or some other software or registry (or user) error. writing drivers that work 100% with 100% of system configurations seems to be something that is not easy to do. sometimes its not the software, its the hardware that does not play nice with each other as well.
