Use ATI CCC and Uninstall then Install new drivers.
I came to red side of the force after being some hardcore nVIDIA fanboy.
Why? will you ask. Well, I had a SLi of 8800GT reference boards which after reseating coolers, cleaning sinks and putting some MX2 on them, still got to 102 and 108ºC respectively, with two 120mm fans moving air through them.
Don't ask how temps were without them.
Also, the scaling was so damn terrible (60% if I was lucky and the game was TWIMTBP and SLi certified), I bought an HD5870 a year after.
Well, needless to say that it destroyed the hell out of the 8800GTs, being much, MUCH cooler and eating WAY less power. Also ran much quieter.
Yeah, I know it's from another generation which is much older. but a friend's GTX280 definitely quit me from getting an nVIDIA card. His one would give pink screens of death due to overheating, and artifacting due to Sn balls cracking. Fan on Auto would send the card to high 90s, and the blower would scream like hell (louder than the 2 UKs on the radiator fullspeed ahead).
Not to mention that it almost died due to a fan failure caused by a driver release shortly before I bought my HD5870.
My experiences on the green side haven't been as good as they should, that's why I went to ATi.
Seemingly your case is the complete opposite
