1 reason why I am leaving ATI - Page 9

I got tha ASUS GTX 560 Ti DirectCU II to "replace" my XFX HD 6850...it was an impulsive act more than anything else hahah!

My first ATI was a 9800Pro which I thought was defective but it was my lowend PSU. Then been on the green side till my 9600GT which I replaced with a HD 4850. Then a HD 5770, then a HD 6850 and now a GTX 560 Ti.

Never had any issues with ATI drivers, from the 9.9 to the 11.2 with different hotfixes in between. Maybe i'm lucky, I don't know since most of the ATI users I know personnaly or on the forums seems to have a smooth ride with them.

I seriously don't have any clue why people have any issues with Ati drivers. I have never had any from my Radeon 9000 Pro to my 9600 Pro to my HD 4870 to my HD 4870 Crossfire to my current HD 5850 and I doubt I will have any issues with my soon to be Crossfire HD 5850s. I upgrade my drivers several times a year. Currently I'm running 11.2 and have no problems. I guess it's just issues of compatibility with motherboards or something. Oh well, enjoy those nVidia cards.

Well, you know what they say...

The Nvidia GPU gets into the taxi. The driver says, 'hey, no smoking in here!' Later, the ATi GPU gets into the taxi, but there is no driver.

OP, if it's not broke don't fix it. Go ahead and go nVidia. One less computer illiterate keyboard basher on our side.

Will do in the future then, though I'm not sure how I was supposed to know something like that.
I think that's just if you disabled it yourself beforehand, though I could be wrong as I have not had the need to mess with the registry.

EDIT:Not saying OP is a keyboard basher though.

This is my first time going to the red side myself. I had one driver issue when I was not able to uninstall my previous drivers and install new ones. But do I blame AMD or ATI? Absolutely not. I had ULPS disabled, ran driver sweeper, AND Windows 7 SP1 was just installed. Take your pick which could have caused a contention. I was forced to do a fresh install of windows and put 11.2 back on and not one lick of problem since then. So I whole heartedly agree that 90% of the issues stem from somewhere else and it is just too easy to say 'ATI driver problem' because of the impression they created. I think ATI need to form a task force to better their image.

Unless you need one of those driver versions in order to play a new game, that is a ridiculous reason, Xeb.

Really? Gee, I wouldn't think there would be a difference between the two! The 5850 is marketed as the flagship, after all!

This thread is just a troll fest.
