Buying a new phone, need TIPS on iphone vs. Android usage. GSM/CDMA?

hello OC.net, since I am on a verge of getting a new phone, I do not know which one suits me. Before I ask, I have a different question about carriers. I live in Canada and and there are two carriers which are Telus and Rogers (obviously more that I haven't stated). Telus is CDMA?? Meaning no sim card where as rogers is GSM?? with sim card (did some homework). The HTC Desire HD is only available on Telus but is it possible to buy it from Telus and unlock it to rogers without losing anything special (3G etc..)?

Now for my other question, I will either buy the iphone 4 or the Desire HD but if I can not bring the Desire HD to Rogers, I might get the samsung galaxy S captivate which is the best smartphone offered from Rogers. I will mostly use my phone for internet broJustinTV wsing and watching videos. I am not too sure if I can watch justintv/own3dtv/livestream/ustream (starcraft streaming) on android as it might be not strong enough. Watching justintv is pretty good on the ipad but being limited to just not enough.

How is the iphone4 vs captivate vs desire HD? I always wanted an evo 4g in Canada but in reality, I know they will never exist... *cries*

so any thoughts which phone is better for my usage?
:)

1. I have no idea, over here we have sim cards for everything though.
2. They are all nice phones, all have similar performace and all their screens are nice (I say the DHD wins because my vanilla desires screen is the best I've seen but some people will disagree because resolution means everything ). It all comes down to the OS (android vs iOS, the type of android is irrelevant as each OS has been ported to the other phone by the devs) and the aesthetics (I prefer HTC as its solidly built and feels good while the samsung feels plasticy and cheap. The iphone is all glass which I don't like but you may).

Every phone will be able to do what you want it to do, all it comes down to is the OS you prefer and the aesthetics of the phone. That is my no bull analysis(I try not to be biased when recommending phones).

About what? I thought I made everything but the sim cards thing clear... I thought all phones used sim cards now though

If you still don't know what phone to get go to a shop and have a play with a few, you may not even like any of the ones you originally suggested...

You REALLY MUST choose a carrier FIRST, because this will dictate which phones are available to you on that carrier with everything you may want (like 3G).

The Desire HD won't work on Rogers. It doesn't have a radio that supports the W-CDMA bands used by Rogers. /sadface
