Beat Dragon Age 2. Kinda left unfulfilled :( *Possible Spoilers*

Ok, so I beat the game and did nearly every single side mission. I maintained friendship with all my companions and had a relationship. The ending wasn't what I'd hoped for exactly. By this, I mean I don't feel there was enough closure. I'd prefer not to give anything away, detail-wise. It was good, but wasn't epic like Origins. Oh well. I guess that's what DLC's are for.

Im inclined to disagree. But only about the purpose of DLC. Everything else I agree about.
A game should be able to stand on its own and be fulfilling and feel worthwhile without any additional modding or content. If those things add to an already good/great the experience then thats wonderful. But if the initial experience does not feel worthwhile or satisfying to the player then the game has failed one of its cardinal tasks as a game.

Mafia 2 is a wonderful example.
It was very well made (much like DA2), but it was still only a "Meh" game because of the feeling one gets while playing it and after beating it. And the DLC did not do anything to ease that feeling.

That being said I expect some decent DLC for DA2. It has great potential for expanding the experience and so far it has been surprisingly lackluster on its own.

Maybe they made it like that on purpose to promote the purchase of DLC's to provide a hope for that lack of fulfillment. It'd be a shrewd marketing strategy.

I love this game! Been playing it for 3 days straight lol. But ya the first time I beat it I felt unfulfilled too. Redoing the game with all DLC and special weapons.

I have a feeling this is the way the market is going. Here soon, we will pay 60 bucks for the game, and have to buy the better resolutions and graphics options. It just doesn't seem like we are getting as much game as we used to. Now we have to pay extra to get a complete game. For all of the trouble everyone is having with this game, Bioware should give us all a free DLC.

Bioware milking you guys smile.gif

Haven't bought a Bioware game in 12 years, will not break the trend.

I halfway don't agree with DLC's anyways. If you have an epic game that everyone loves and everyone cries out for more, by all means develop some. But DLC's were available around the release of the game. That strikes me as greedy.

Possibly. Its definitely not something I would expect of Bioware.
But Bioware is a business and if the drooling masses will buy a crap game and buy add ons to make it good then thats who they will market to.
Ive said for a few years that I was surprised that EA hadnt strangled the life out of them yet but I fear that I may be wrong about that from now on.

I for one dont keep playing a game if it cant deliver on the first playthrough.
Im a little after Hawke becomes the Champion and im beginning to loose not only hope it gets better but interest in continuing to play.
If Mass Effect 3 is as sketch as DA2 I dont think I will be recommending Bioware anymore.

Thats a shame. You have missed some truly amazing games.
But I agree for the most part.
I pretty much regret buying DA2 and I only buy DLC for good games.

Ive played the game for 5hrs total on nightmare and i have to say it is actually difficult. Unlike origins which proved to be a handicapped nightmare i can actually enjoy a game. Im not much of a rl role player so story doesnt necessary matter just a bonus.

The sex scenes were highly neutered compared to origins. Not a complaint exactly, but Isabella was hot yessir.gif
